Ginseng Syrup

 

Ginseng is one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs. It is available,

ready prepared and in various forms, from health food shops. This

syrup is made using the root, and can be added to any vegetable

dishes.

 

 

2 large ginseng roots, or 4 small ones, cut up fine

300 ml (1/2 pt) water

45 ml (3 Tbsp) Sake or Vodka

 

Pound the ginseng roots in a mortar and then place them in an

earthenware casserole with the liquid. Heat in a low oven (140

degrees C / 275 degrees F / gas mark 1) for 2 hours, then leave

overnight in the oven at the lowest possible temperature. The next

morning, Strain and bottle the liquid. Store in a cool place. It

will keep up to a month.
