Guest guest
He Shou Wu and Vervain Mix--------In Chinese tradition, menopausal problems are associated with run-down kidney energies, so tonics such as He Shou Wu that act on these organs are prescribed. Vervain is a good liver tonic and sedative to calm emotional upsets, while sage and wild yam help with more symptomatic menopausal problems. Ingredients---------------30ml He Shou Wu tincture (fleeceflower root or Polygonum multiflorum) 20ml vervain tincture (Verbena officinalis) 20ml Sage tincture (Salvia officinalis) 15ml wild yam root tincture (Dioscorea villosa) 10ml Lavender tincture (Lavandula angustifolia) 5ml liquorice tincture (Glycyrrhiza glabra) How to make the Mix-----------------------------Mix all the tinctures together and store in a 100ml sterilized dark glass bottle. Dosage-----------Take 5ml (one teaspoon) in a tumbler of water 3 times a day before meals. To make the individual tinctures----------- Parts of plant used - all parts Use 200g dried or 600g fresh herb to 1 litre of alcohol/water mixture (25% alcohol to 75% water - Vodka is ideal to use as the alcohol) 1 Put the herb into a large jar and cover with the alcohol/water mixture. 2 Seal the jar and store in a cool place for 2 weeks and shake it occasionally . 3 Fit a muslin bag inside a wine press ( or hook a jelly bag over ajar) and pour the mixture through. Press the mixture through the wine press (squeeze through the jelly bag). You can store this resulting tincture in dark glass bottles for up to 2 years.
