Guest guest
The Right Way to Use Garlic OilIn a recent Daily Tip (1/11/2006), we touted garlic as a good cold-weather remedy. Within this tip were directions for making garlic oil - this was intended for external use only, as a remedy for ear infections, and not for internal use. Due to an unintended editing omission, this was not made clear. The instructions should have been as follows: "A good home remedy for the early stage of ear infections in children is to put a few drops of warm garlic oil in the ear canal, then plug the ear loosely with a piece of cotton. To make the garlic oil, crush a few cloves of garlic into some olive oil, let it sit a few days at room temperature, and strain it. Keep the oil in a container in the refrigerator and warm a bit for use as needed. Do not use garlic oil prepared this way for food preparation or cooking." Thanks to the astute readers of Dr. Weil's Tip of the Day who brought this oversight to our attention! The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.~ Albert Einstein ~ -- Version: 7.1.375 / Virus Database: 267.14.23/243 - Release 1/27/2006
