Guest guest
http://mercola.com/2003/nov/12/infants_fast_food.htm Infants Eating Fries and Drinking Soft Drinks A survey of 3,000 children aged four to 24 months revealed that U.S. infants are eating many of the junk foods as their parents. Researchers found that infants are eating few fruits and vegetables and are instead eating diets laden with candy, soft drinks and junk food. They found that: French fries are the most popular vegetable eaten by children aged 19 to 24 months About 25 percent of children did not eat any healthy vegetables on the day of the survey Most infants between 19 and 24 months old ate sweets at least once a day Infants seven months and older are being given soft drinks in their bottles Researchers blame the infants’ bad diets on parents’ busy schedules and say that parents must eat healthier themselves and act as healthy role models for their children. News October 25, 2003 Dr. Mercola's Comment: It is shocking and irresponsible that parents are feeding their young children junk food and soft drinks despite what they do to your health. But you want to know what really knocked my socks off? You have to be living under a rock if you didn't know that vegetables were good for you. Well, we read headlines that people are consuming more vegetables, but the key here is what exactly they are defining as vegetables. I suspect you will be as shocked as I was to learn that French fries are actually classified as vegetables. French fries are, in fact, the most popular vegetable eaten by children 19 to 24 months old, as the article says. This is absolutely amazing considering that they are one of the most toxic foods known to man. Equally as surprising is that French fries make up one-third of teens' vegetable intake. Parents, it is up to you to make sure that your children are healthy, especially when they are so young. One of the best ways to keep them healthy is by feeding them foods that are good for them. If you give your children French fries and soda, you are giving them a load of toxins that their bodies have to compensate for. Why not give them foods that will protect them and nourish them instead? There is also the issue of emotional dependencies on sweets and other foods. Many of us were given candy or sweets as rewards from our parents, and you may be tempted to follow that tradition. But, you will likely realize now that you are addicted to these foods and can’t seem to stop eating them. This is because we do become addicted to them, and it is difficult to break the addiction. You can keep your children out of this vicious cycle depending on how you raise them. Giving your child sweets regularly will likely translate into a future addiction to them. So, give your child a chance and limit their sweets while you can, and while you’re at it, try limiting your own sweets as well--you’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel! If you are struggling with an addiction to sweets, EFT is a great tool to help and you can check out my free EFT manual to learn how to do it yourself.
