Guest guest
I have high cholesterole and was wondering if EDTA and Red Yeast Rice can be taken together. Would one interfer with the other? I am also taking a Multi, Gamma E Compound, Curcumin and C-Q10. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you, Barbara

Anything on the market other than Cholestin which has been banned by the FDA is non-effective! As Dr. Weil states, the efficacy of the others (policosanol, from beeswax) has not been proven. Some of the supplement companies are marketing this under the same name, which in my opinion is very fraudulent. Typical profits above lives scenario, duh… Each to his own. However it may very well prove to be a waste of money according to Dr. Weil if you take this route. If I were you I would stick by some more proven remedies such as Hawthorn berry, CO-Q10, high doses of magnesium ( 1,200 mgs in divided doses), Potassium (99 mgs or more) vitamin E (400 -800), C with flavonoids and betacarotene and cut way back on those problematic calcium supplements for they have been linked to harmful plaque!). I lowered my cholesterol by purely natural means ( i.e. an all organic mainly mediterranean diet ( with the exception of no dairy at all) and with an abundance of more traditional supplements), and using only expeller pressed imported extra virgin olive oil high beneficial omega-9s in my diet. Expeller pressed EV olive oil forms beneficial HDL which scrubs our arteries clean of LDL cholesterol and keeps them clean daily. As my other articles state it carts LDL's off to the liver where it is disposed of! I firmly believe that the right diet is more important than anything else. I also firmly believe it's the " types " of fats that we put in our bodies that " cause " this high LDL cholesterol with refined oils and hydrogenated transfats highest on the list of those to avoid! Transfats are the very worst of the simple carbs, of course and cause the most harm. Certainly, no oil qualifies as a health food, and unfortunately it is the abundance of omega-6s in refined processed oils and transfats that forms arterial plaque and contributes to an excess of LDL cholesterol in our bloodstream. The toxic wastes that accumulate in our livers leading to fatty liver is also linked to hydrogenated and ALL of those refined oils that americans use. The toxic wastes, some of them, emanate from the refining process of these oils themselves! The only cooking oil that contains the essential fats necessary for controlling LDL cholesterol is extra virgin olive oil. Using processed oils depletes the HDL (good) cholesterol as well. This makes them even more problematic and they are present in just about everything except for the organic varieties! That is why those who change over to organic do so much better over the course of time. On another note, EDTA is helpful for some people. Others receive no benefit at all. The kits from the health food stores vary in their effectiveness and from I have heard they are only a temporary solution. Diet is the key to long term artery health. There is no other way! My artery health has been reversed over the past ten years simply by avoiding processed refined devitalized foods and following the guidelines I've given you. God Bless you and Good Luck! JoAnn P.S. Udo's oils are also beneficial as well however I didn't discover them until much later. They are fabulous! www.udoerasmus.com
