Guest guest
Change your washing powder to one that is eco friendly to start, some babies can develop an allergy very early to washing powder. If you can get them off the antibiotics you will be doing them so much good, they are really bad in the long run. What are you sterilizing the nipples with - this could be another cause of the problem. When you say 'changed' do you mean they have their clothes changed 4 or 5 times a day? This is too much you can keep a baby too clean you know. If you mean the nappies then maybe that is not enough. Hope this helps a little. Guest guest
Maryann, Antibiotics purpose is to kill bacteria. That is not necessarily bad if you have some bad bacteria, but the problem is that they also kill healthy bacteria in the normal flora of the stomach that aid against overgrowth of yeast within the body and fight against the bad bacteria. Those healthy bacteria are an important part of the immune system. Yeast is not simply external but is internal. When there is an external outbreak, yeast is probably in high growth internally. Some foods aid the growth of yeasts in the body. I would focus on why your children are needing antibiotics in the first place and look at improving their immune system through better nutrition. I never had problems with my infants and thrush or rashes but I breast fed. They never had any of the baby formulas. Stuff out of a can just never impressed me as being good nutrition. I also used cloth diapers. I had friends who did battled yeast infections all the time and I always wondered about the formula their kids got and allergic reactions to the chemicals in the diapers. I am not so sure now that it was the formula directly as much as indirectly. I have also noted over my years that pediatricians recommendations on what and when to fed infants changes constantly which has told me they do not really have a good basis to their recommendations. Adult nutrition is certainly controversial among so called experts. The following site has some critisims of soy formulas you may find interesting and other articles on child nutrition. I wish I had known of these guys when mine were young. Better nutrition would have minimized many other problems my kids had in growing up, actually probably most of them. From this " old " mother's advice, it may seem like more work at face value but the work saved from taking care of sick kids and dealing with the behavioral and learning problems poor nutrition can cause by far out weighs in the long run. http://westonaprice.org/children/children.html Mary Maryann Call [wocall] Thursday, November 27, 2003 3:10 AM neee some info does anyone has a theokry on baies getting thrush all the time these twins are kept spotless changed about 4--5 timea a day nipples still being strilozed at 6 mnths old one doctor puts her oin one kind and other dr puts her on anoither they say the antibiotic causes it amoxicillan is what it is but this is frustrating any help will be appreciated thanks maryann
