This bit of info is taken from Michael Murray's informative book, " The Healing Power of Herbs. " He says and I quote. " The dosage for Gymnema sylvestre is 400 mgs per day in both type I and type II diabetes. It is interesting to note that gymnema extract is without side effects and exerts its blood sugar lowering effects ONLY in cases of diabetes! Gymnema extract, when given to hypoglycemics or healthy volunteeres does NOT produce ANY blood sugar lowering or hypoglycemic effect! " There is evidence that gymnema revitalizes and regenerates the beta cells of the pancreas which enables us to maintain normal blood sugar control. I am well aware that the majority of Diabetic DRUGS do plunge diabetics into hypoglycemia. This is typically the way they work! I observed this first hand. Herbs are natural substances and they work with the body to improve blood sugar control so there is quite a difference! Cheers, JoAnn P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!
