Guest guest
JustSayNo Sat, 03 Jan 2004 14:53:19 -0500 [sSRI-Research] the suicide rateamong SSRI users is 752 per 100,000 -- from a member It's an established fact that the suicide rate among SSRI users is 752 per 100,000. Now NAMI says that two thirds of depressed people don't " seek treatment " . The suicide rate of the non drugged population, INCLUDING THE TWO THIRDS OF DEPRESSED PEOPLE WHO DO NOT " SEEK TREATMENT " , is 11 per 100,000. Even if the depressed non " treated " people accounted for ALL of the suicides, it would still only raise their rate to about 102 per 100,000 (of the depressed population). My figuring may be a little off, but no matter how depressed , you are still at least 7 times more likely to commit suicide if you are taking an SSRI. I think NAMI's got some explaining to do.
