Guest guest
Hi Kim! If you have a T.C.M. doctor (Traditional ) in your area, this is one option you may like to consider. Having used Chinese Herbal Medicine myself for a number of years (for a viral conditon), I know it has value. There are clinical studies, which confirm the usefulness of this branch of medicine. I have seen relatively quick responses in others (I assisted in compiling their clinical data for a report), as far as white blood cells, red blood cells, liver function, were concerned--where they had been abnormal. Rises in energy levels are common, where this had been low. Treating viral conditions are one of the strengths of T.C.M., as also is chronic, wasting type illnesses. The traditional approach is one of brewing up herbal teas (combinations of herbs), but there are also stronger, refined extracts, which we found ideal for the group of us being treated for a viral condition. The regular teas just weren't strong enough medicine in our case. The extracts come in powders, pills and capsules. One source of medicine I've used recently, you can find at: http://natureproducts.net (email: josef ) and it's called " Revivo " . It may be helpful. My advice would be to see if there's a T.C.M. specialist (ideally, one who's O.K. with reading lab reports--anyone can, really, but some people are intimidated by them) who can evaluate and monitor the patient throughout. Good luck! Steve - kimmykjl2003 Friday, February 13, 2004 5:09 PM Herbal treatment for mono? Hi everyone! My name is Kim - I am from Ohio. My situation is this: After 4 trips to the doctor, my daughter was finally diagnosed by extensive blood test to have monunucleosis. She is 12 years old. The blood test shows she is only in the beginning phases, but she already had the " bullfrog neck " and now her spleen is swollen, but the doctors don't seem that concerned. They said to send her to school and make sure she doesn't participate in gym and that she cannot continue her competitive cheerleading and indoor soccer activities because of risk of spleenic rupture. There is no treatment for mono so we have to just " wait it out " . She has been on prednisone (steroid) for 4 days and hasn't helped her spleen...it compromises your immune system so she is on antibiotics (Zithromax). We have a friend who was treated by an herbalist because his mono and swollen spleen - his doctors became concerned because of his blood count (white vs. red)and I am afraid this same thing will happen to my daughter. He took an herbal supplement and was better in 2 days...anyone have any experience with this at all? Any advice would be welcomed! xxxkimxxx
