Guest guest
Hi Jan! Have you thought of consulting a doctor of Chinese medicine for your condition? I know there are herbal/animal product compounds used for arthritis. Sometimes the stuff really looks gross, smells really odd cooking in the herb pot, tastes peculiar, but I've found myself quite fond of the teas. I don't have arthritis, but I've used T.C.M. for immune stimulation, allergies, colds, antiviral properties, for myself for years. Acupuncture works well for pain, but can be costly. It is possible to self-treat, and there are non-needle methods, from little acupuncture lasers to electricity. A sympathetic acupuncturist can help in finding the points, and doing self-treatment between what you can afford -- if you're lucky enough to find such a person. I wish you good luck in finding a natural treatment that works for you. Steve - JanPM Tuesday, March 16, 2004 9:17 AM small question Hello - I haven't been posting much since my husband passed away, but I check in a catch up on the messages here. My 'mind-set' on conventional medicine is one of distrust, especially since having seen first hand how all the ground we had won fightling lung cancer with alternatives was lost and destroyed by conventional medicine once my poor husband was forced into the system steroids (-he had a brain tumor removed) side effect blew a hole in his intestine - emergency surgery or death - more steroids, dextrose ivs, morphine). Having said all that I could use some input from alternatively minded folks on the subject of naproxenn. I have bad arthritis - and have been dealing with it for about ten years now. i have done and continue to use all the supplements that are supposed to support and reverse damage - glucosime, condroiton,MSM, CMO, enzymes etc. Recently I took 'Relora' which is supposed to lower cortisol - but since cortisol in proper amounts is an anti-inflamatory I only took it for a few days before experiencing horrible increase in pain in my knees. It was so intense and debilitating that I resorted to cracking open my prescription for naproxen (dr told me to take this twice a day, but I only did so for a month and then stopped going with alternitive supplements instead) - years ago. I know the naproxen is masking the symptom - but it's a nsaid that apparently rduced the inflamation in my affected joints. I can actually walk and move again without pain. it feels......wonderful to do so, I can't remember the last time I did not have chronic and continual pain. so here's my question - I am thinking of continuing to take this drug, but I hate to do so - if I do stay on it am I doing myself any real harm long term? thanks for any information on this subject you may have!
