Guest guest
Good morning! I just joined the group as I am desperate to get a good night's sleep. The doctors have prescirbed medications that produce too many side effects. Does someone have an alternative method to sound sleep? Thanks! Guest guest
I have tried this and when I do most or all of these things it helps. I have researched this online, spoken to DRs, healers, etc.: -Try to eat some protein (nothing too heavy) before bed. plain yogurt, milk, raw almonds etc. -Stay away from sugar (4-5 hrs before) and caffeine (10-12 hrs before) bedtime. This means desserts, white flours, Red Bull, sodas, etc. -Try to get your liquids in more in mid to late afternoon. Avoid drinking 1-2 hours before bedtime. -Exercise at least once a day. (yeah right! But also try to do it in the morning and not late in the evening) -Take your calcium and magnesium supplements before bedtime. (of course this involves drinking a little bit) Cal/Mag help calm your system down. -Avoid anxious, action, news, etc. before bedtime. It makes your thoughts race. Try reading instead. -Writing your random/stream of conciousness thoughts and worries out right before bed is called a " brain drain. " And excellent way to " leave things for morning " so to speak. -Try not to argue before bed or discuss intense matters with a mate/relative before bed. This is difficult because often it's our only time alone with each other. -Valerian root and kava kava are still excellent for calming the system down for sleep. I hear camomile tea too but that never helped me much. It's a discipline but most of our issues could at least be helped by us taking responsibility for our own health and not " rewarding " ourselves with things that end up inhibiting it. Good luck! What keeps you awake? Do you have a bedtime ritual? What is your bedroom and bed like? How dark is your room? Are you getting enough of the calming minerals, cacium and magnesium? Guest guest
Debbie: I recently managed to get my depression and sleep problems under control Catnip tea is a nice relaxing sedative, use it in the afternoon with a little lemon and sweetener. Passionflower is a soft tranquiliser, use it around 830 for a 10pm bedtime in a tea with lemon and a little sweetener. Use about a 20c piece / pile in the palm of your hand for a single serve of both herbs. Skullcap is great for removing a racing mind…add a small pinch (the flavour is pungent, but a good ½ pinch at least) to either of these infusions and a little more lemon Take the infusion nightly…at least 1 of them depending on how well it works and what suits your needs. 8 years suffering…solved in 3 months…well…managed. Do not take the passionflower too late or too much of the skull cap…or you’ll wake up groggy and absent. Guest guest
My husband and I occassionally have trouble sleeping but we didn't like taking Tylenol PMs because they made us so zombie like the next day. Recently we started using " Healthy Sleep Support " through a company called HALE. If you would like I could connect you with a representative. The major ingredients are Magnolia officinalis, Ziziphus spinosa, tops extract of passiflora incarnata. If you want the other ingredients, please contact me. The company manufactures their own organic fruits and veggies and ingredients. BBW <bbes10 wrote: I have tried this and when I do most or all of these things it helps. Guest guest
hi debby, im a supplier to doctors here in my country who are MD's practicing alternative medicine. i also have a friend who has the same problem as yours. whats happening to you most likely, is that you dont get to your 'alpha state' or the ultimate relaxation stage where you get best sleep. due perhaps to stress, worrying or etc. theres a product i can recommend you that extracts theanine from greentea. it worked wonders for my friend and my doctors recommend this product too. its all natural. NIGHTIME COMPLEX WITH THEANINE you can go to www.synergy1.mypharmanex.com and check into-> solutions hope it helps. let me know how you feel after 1 week of taking it. im sure you would love it. email me at busybuddy168 sandy , " Ieneke van Houten " <ienvan wrote: > > Debby wrote: > Good morning! > I just joined the group as I am desperate to get a good night's sleep. > The doctors have prescirbed medications that produce too many side > effects. Guest guest
You can also try Taurine (an amino acid). You would take about 2000-3000 mg about an hour before bedtime. It's very effective. You might need to play with the dosages though to see what works best for you. Guest guest
Melatonin. I use the liquid form so I can control the amount I take. It works wonders, and I only use it when I relaly need it. I buy it at my favorite vitamin and herbal remedy store.
