Guest guest
Hi Gea, Sorry for the late response. Mono is an opportunistic disease (virus). It is a virulent and highly infectious virus that can take up to almost 2 months after exposure to show itself manifesting . A weak immune system can allow it to invade the body and cause severe illness. If one does get mono it'll take at LEAST 3 months to rebuilding of the body's systems to restore strength and health. The best defense is a good offense of keeping a strong immune system and promoting the healthy function of the lymph, liver and spleen systems in particular... Avoid all immune defeating things such as chemical stimulants, caffeine, large quantities of refined sugars, alcohol, etc .... Avoid intimate contact with someone who has mono. There are a plethora of things nutritional (foods, vitamins, etc), supplemental (herbal), and lifestyle support that can assist someone who comes down with this nasty chronic fatigue type disease. I hope nobody else in her school comes down with it, cause it is, without a doubt, not as cute as its old nickname " the kissing disease " makes it sound. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Gea [theimage] Friday, October 24, 2003 1:10 PM Mono I recieved a letter from my daughters school informing me that 4 cases of infectious mono have been reported, the nurse told me that the students do not have to stay out of school if they have it, and it can be spread through social contact, so I am concerned that their may be alot more kids who are infected than they know of,some not showing symptoms. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to prevent or keep this at bay. Thank-you Gea
Guest guest
Hi Mari, Best bet for right now would be to make a strong sage tea gargle or a strong salt water gargle and have him gargle with this 3 or 4 or more times a day. Echinecea tincture will help immensely as will the Total Tonic. Get him eating lots of raw garlic and give him some cayenne. Total tonic and the gargle will be the best for right now. Guest guest
I have a friend who has some sort of viral infection that seems to be like strep throat in every way (but she's been tested and it's not) My husband is sure she has mono and we wanted to know if there is any way to help get rid of this problem a little quicker. Her doctor told her to drink lots of water and use tylenol for symptom relief. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks-Whitney
Guest guest
Probably a bad time of year to find a homeopath or get an appointment but if you can that would be my first line of defense. Second option would be to look for a homeopathic remedy on my own in the health food store. I love the Heel remedies for acute situations. They are powerful and work fast and are remedies of choice for doctors. Otitis media ampules would relieve the swelling if she takes one every twelve hours for three doses. Just break off the top and suck it out or use a little tetra pak straw. It's actually for ear infections but should work for the swelling, no matter what the cause. It's very painful to drink water when you have mono. I was on vacation in Europe when I was about 15 and got the worst case the doctor had ever seen. I dropped 15 pounds in a week because it hurt so much to swallow. Perhaps a frozen smoothie made from frozen berries and some greens like kale would provide her with some nutrients and energy now. Garlic tea is another option but it might not feel too great on her throat. Garlic pills a close second. Kyolic brand. Black seed oil if you can find it is a natural antibiotic and very good for chest area problems. Take one tsp three times a day. It comes from the black cumin seed and is one of the best remedies I've ever seen. You don't see it much in North America and the powder or pills are not nearly as effective as the oil. By the way, this is a good one to always have in the home. Keep in the fridge. I ordered mine from a company called Baraka who imports it into Canada when I couldn't find it in the store. In Europe it's in every corner drug store. I would prefer to use Advil over Tylenol for pain though. Tylenol can get toxic quite quickly, especially if she doesn't drink enough water. I had a severe tooth problem and took some Tylenol (couldn't find the Advil) before I could make it to a dentist recently (these things always happen when the dentist is closed!) and I could actually feel little stabbing pains in my liver. Of course with all the cleansing I've done, I'm really sensitive to new chemicals so this wouldn't happen to everyone but for sure avoid alcohol if using Tylenol. If anyone has any magnets or an infrared device that she could put on her throat, that may help the pain and reduce swelling too. Guest guest
I have found transfer factor plus is highly effective at combating this, which essentially describes CF/IDS. It's also important to get rid of candida and rebuild the friendly flora. Articles on all these are on our site www.icuhealthy.com please forgive how it looks, it is in progress now. Also check the link for hyperbaric oxygen. There is probably nothing more powerful for many conditions. Cancer can't live in a high-oxygen environment. peace and happy holidaze, matt Rev. Matthew M.
