Guest guest
I would never give tea tree oil to a cat. I put a little on the paw of a kitten once. I thought it would help get rid of a patch of ringworm. All 4 kittens died a horrible death. They suffered greatly over the 3 days before they died. Someone here said their systems could not get rid of it & that's how it appeared to me. Jean
Guest guest
Anything given to animals should be checked first with an authority for the reasons below. Animals cannot eat all we eat nor process all we process. It angers me greatly to see animals suffer in the case of human carelessness or callousness. - " Saturday, December 23, 2006 9:30 PM Tea Tree oil & cats > I would never give tea tree oil to a cat. > I put a little on the paw of a kitten once. Guest guest
We treat any eye, mouth, skin or anything really on our cats with Aloe Vera straight from the plants. It works incredibly quickly and is non toxic. Often they will lick it off, if they can, but because it seems to work really quickly on them it doesn't matter. What angers me greatly is to suggest I am either careless or callous. Maybe you can suggest an 'authority' for those interested to turn to. Then work to get the word out. My local vets don't know anything about using so called 'natural' products. If you really want to get angry, go take a look at your local animal shelter & find out how many of those caged cats & dogs are euthanized every year. If you are still concerned, get off your butt & do something to help the situation instead of criticizing those of us who are trying to help by taking care of, feeding & paying vet bills to care for dozens of dumped animals year round. Some cities will adopt a " no-kill " policy but only with support (and demand) from enough concerned citizens to make it happen. Get involved in making that happen in your community. Support your local humane society, who are trying to find foster homes and permanent homes for unwanted animals. Organize a low-cost or free spay/neuter program for low income people so there are not so many abandoned animals that end up starving or dying on the street or put to death in animal 'shelters.' Send a donation to Kittico. They spay & neuter thousands of unwanted cats every year. http://www.kittico.org/ Jean
