Rate : 50/hr.

 

BSM Specialist

 

Experience with event management systems preferbly Tivoli Enterprise

Console ( TEC ).

Experience with UNIX and / or Windows servers.

Scripting or programming Experience

Monitoring tool Experience, such as Tivoli, mom, appmanager, BMC, etc.

Systems and / or network management experience.

 

Purpose / description :

 

The purpose of this position is to assist the Global I & O Infrastructure

management Infrastructure services function in the Development and

implementation of event reception and BSM technologies.

 

Core responsibilities :

 

Work with the Tivoli Enterprise console to include but not limited to

the following :

Set event filters

Write, load and work with rules.

Administer security and user desktops for TEC users.

Work with monitoring tools, assisting platform group's users in setting

up monitor thresholds.

Work with event manager, platform and application owners to document

events.

Work with transaction shooters and to set up web monitoring.

Help model I & O components ( servers, services such as DNS, AD, Web

sphere, etc.

Analyze Infrastructure environments and recommend monitoring techniques.

Train operators and other TEC users

Set up portals

 

Skills & knowledge :

 

Board background of IT from networking systems to server logistics as

well Experience in the following areas :

 

IT environments, including servers , networks, databases, applications,

storage.

Familier with application architectures ( 3 tier , client server,

application servers, database servers, etc )

Knowledge of databases Oracle / SQL.

Network topologies , LAN, WAN, routers / switches etc.

Network and application protocols TCP / IP, SQL Net, DNS, HTTP, etc and

management ( spectrum , open / view ).

Knowledge of events, SNMP, monitoring.

Knowledge and understanding of firewalls.

Knowledge of high availability, clustering, load balancing.

Hardware architectures.

 

Specific skills :

 

Hands-on Unix or windows SERVER exposure.

Knowledge, Experience, and applicability in Unix or Windows systems.

Geneal Operating systems knowledge.

Experience with Tivoli TEC or other event management systems.

Experience with monitoring tools such as Tivoli, BMC, mom , appmanager.

Programming / Scripting Experience ( perl / korn / c ).

Debugging, problem analysis skills.

SQL Knowledge ( SQL Plus ).

HTML Knowledge and Experience.

Additional Experience that is preferred.

 

Experience with managed objects formula or other BSM tool suite.

Heavy Experience with TEC and rule writing.

Experience with Server performance tuning.

 

Minimum education and experience :

 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.

3 - 5 years of professional experience required from an IT environment.
