Guest guest
I have often wondered if I were to take some green bread mold, and ingest it, if it would be the same thing as taking penicillin? I have spent a king's ransom on " the pink stuff. " I know that $eptra is made from grapefruit mold, and I'm allergic to grapefruit in strong quantities. (All Cephala$porific drugs, an internest told me. My face gets a rash) Amoxil is what is most prescribed for me, my girls, and even my CAT! There is a white mold on bread, too, that I have stayed away from. Usually the bread starts to smell of vinegar. (Especially the brand " Bunny Bread. " ) I ate a tiny piece of green mold on white bread once, to see what would happen. I don't mean when the whole bag of bread turns into green powder or anything. I rarely see mold on a multi-grain bread. Also, what about Bleu Cheese? Would that too have antibiotic properties??? Thanks for your input Athena
Guest guest
Nope... not hardly. The very first discovery of penicllin was credited to Alexander Fleming but he was not truly the first to observe that certian types (but not all types) of mold produced this penicillin. He was never able to produce enough of it in a purified form to get enought to even prove that it would work on a person. This work was later taken up in 1939 by 3 other scientist at Oxford Univercity. The school text books usually don't tell the entire story and leave the reader with the wrong impression on this and usually give total credit to Fleming. The mold that was used to get a large amount of penicillin first was found growing on a cantalope at a produce stand. Researchers hired people to collect every sort of mold they could find to experiment with to try and find one that would produce a usable amount. The right strain of mold just happen to be on the cantaloupe. Here is a summary of it... http://www.accessexcellence.org/AE/AEC/CC/chance.html Aubrey , HeiressArts wrote: > > I have often wondered if I were to take some green bread mold, and ingest > it, if it would be the same thing as taking penicillin? > > I have spent a king's ransom on " the pink stuff. Guest guest
Hi Athena, There is too little penicillin in a mold to be of any use to humans. The wild spread us of penicillin since WWII has had side effects on all of us. Widespread fungus was not found in most people before that time. Now we all have it in our blood and it causes problems from the toes to the head. Ex: Candita, crypto and madura mycosis, etc. Fungus is linked to several cancers too. You don't need it. Try Col. Silver. It is a wide spectrum antibiotic and has been around for 1000's of years. And, it is safe. Buy a silver pulser lite from sotainstruments.com ($115.) Or make a pulser and a col. silver maker. Try a grp. called microelectricitygermkiller for the pulser. There are several col. silver grps. See the files for plans to make col. silver. Guest guest
---ever thought of trying coloidal silver A FEW UNIQUE PLUS TRADITIONAL USES FOR COLLOIDAL SILVER When you control a source of pennies-per-gallon make-it-yourself high concentration Colloidal Silver you can use it for hundreds of health improvement applications. A few are suggested here. Add to suspected drinking water when traveling or camping. Silver-sprayed burns heal rapidly without scarring. Safely sterilize anything from toothbrushes to surgical instruments. Use topically on cuts, wounds, abrasions, rashes, sunburn, razor nicks and bandages. Spray on garbage to prevent decay odors. Mist kitchen sponges, towels, cutting boards to eliminate E. Coli and salmonella bacteria to prevent food poisoning, gastrointestinal inflammation, and genital tract infections. Use like peroxide on zits and acne. Add to juices and milk to prevent spoiling, fermenting, deteriorating, clabbering or curdling. Spray in shoes, between toes, between legs to stop most skin itch, athletes foot, fungi, jock itch. Diminish dandruff, psoriasis, skin rashes, etc. Add to bath water, gargle, douches, colon irrigation, nasal spray and dental water-pic solutions. Cuts downtime dramatically from colds, flu, pneumonia, staph, strep, respiratory infections and rhino viruses. Skin itch, eye and ear infections, warts and some moles vanish (put on Band-Aid and wear overnight each night until gone). Spray on body after bathing. Use with Q-tips on fingernail, toenail, and ear fungi. Neutralize tooth decay and bad breath. Silver stops halitosis by eliminating bacteria deep in throat and on back of tongue. Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, Colloidal Silver never permits strain-resistant pathogens to evolve. Put a on Band-Aids and bandages to shorten healing times. Health professionals might consider IV and IM injections. Tumor and polyp shrinking is reported when masses are injected directly (when silver is added to sterile physiological saline or Ringer's Solution that contains 9000 ppm sodium chloride). Toothaches, mouth sores, bacterial irritations are diminished. Soak dentures. Spray refrigerator, freezer and food storage bin interiors. Stop mildew and wood rot. Mix in postage stamp, envelope, and tape moistening wells, paint and paste pots to prevent bacterial growth, odors, spoiling or souring. Add to water based paints, wallpaper paste, dishwater, cleaning and mopping solutions, etc. Spray pet bedding and let dry. Spray on top of contents of opened jam, jelly, and condiment containers and inside lids before replacing. Mix a little in pet water, birdbaths, cut flower vases. Always add to swamp cooler water. Spray air conditioner filters after cleaning. Swab air ducts and vents to prevent breeding sites for germs. Use routinely in laundry final rinse water and always before packing away seasonal clothes. Damp clothes or towels and washcloths will not sour or mildew. Eliminate unwanted microorganisms in planter soils and hydroponics systems. Spray plant foliage to stop fungi, molds, rot, and most plant diseases. Treat pools, fountains, humidifiers, Jacuzzis, hot tubs, baths, dishwashers, re-circulating cooling tower water, gymnasium foot dips, and bath and shower mats. (actually they sell CS-copper combinations for pools) Spray inside shoes, watch bands and gloves and under fingernails periodically. Treat shower stalls, tubs, fonts, animal watering troughs, shavers to avoid trading germs. Rinse fruit and vegetables before storing or using. Add to human and animal shampoos and they become disinfectants. Prevent carpets, drapes and wallpaper from mildewing. Wipe telephone mouthpieces, pipe stems, headphones, hearing aids, eyeglass frames, hairbrushes, combs, loofas. Excellent for diapers and diaper rash. Do toilet seats, bowls, tile floors, sinks, urinals, door knobs. Kills persistent odors. Rinse invalid's pillowcases, sheets, towels and bedclothes. There are literally thousands of other essential uses for this ridiculously inexpensive (if you make your own), odorless, nearly tasteless and colorless, totally benign and easily produced, powerful, non-toxic disinfectant and healing agent. For animals to prevent picking up virus, fungus and bacteria. (I use 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per quart of water every day) if the dog is under stress I increase the dose. You'll find that a spray or misting bottle of Colloidal Silver solution may be the most useful health enhancement tool in your environment. You can use a Nebulizer for lung infections, bronchitis, soar throat (used in combination with oral dosage) Dosage: Some people, when first ingesting Colloidal Silver, have the experience that is called the Herxheimer effect. This experience is a result of the silver very efficiently killing off too many pathogens too fast for the body to dispose of through the normal eliminative organs. This forces the body to utilize the secondary eliminative organs: the lungs, sinuses and skin. Sometimes a new Colloidal Silver user who drinks a large quantity for the first time will experience what feels like a cold or the flu (or diarrhea). This can be stopped by cutting back on the dosage (or completely abstaining for a day or so), or prevented by starting with a small dose (1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon twice a day) and gradually increasing the dosage. Some people even find they need to start off at first with just a few drops. People who are trying to self-treat a significant health condition (like asthma, or an internal infection) may need to work up to fairly large quantities each day (8 oz to 1 quart per day) before they see an improvement. There are no known instances of anyone overdosing with Colloidal Silver. Directions for use: ( from http://www.inspiredmind.com/health/colloidal.html ) --- - ---------- ORAL: 1 teaspoon for 7 days, then 1/2 teaspoon daily Children: 1/2 the adult dosage. Chronic cases: 2 teaspoons to 4 ounces as required daily. For colds or flu symptoms, double or triple the usual dosage for 3 days, then follow the regime. Optimum dose may require more or less silver depending on the state of the Immune System. Kinesiology testing or muscle testing is an effective way to determine dosage. Remember, this is a safe and pure mineral element and you cannot overdose. There are no known side effects. A few people may feel achy and sluggish on the third or fourth day after they begin taking Colloidal Silver. This is called a " Healing Crisis " . When the body is sloughing off huge amounts of toxins at once, the elementary organs can become overloaded. Drink lots of water and the symptoms will lessen rapidly. EXTERNALLY: Apply directly to cuts, scrapes and open sores. A Q-tip makes a good applicator or put a few drops on a Band-Aid and wear. over cuts, sores, scrapes, warts abrasions. Daub directly on skin cancers, eczema or itchy areas, or for acne, mosquito bites or any skin problem. ATOMIZER / INHALER: For nose / lung problems spray into nose while inhaling. EYES: Put a few drops in each night before bed. (It's safe even for baby's eyes. ) COLONICS / DOUCHES: Add 2 ounces to pure water. TO PURIFY WATER: Add one ounce per gallon, shake well, wait six minutes, shake again, wait 6 minutes and drink. DIGESTIVE AID: Drink two quarts of the above mixture over a days time, especially with meals, to help eliminate fermentation. NATURAL FOOD PRESERVATIVE: Use in canning at 1/4 tsp. per quart. FOR PLANTS: For all bacterial, fungal, and viral attacks on plants, simply spray diluted silver on the leaves, and add to soil water. Mix 1 ounce per quart of water. FOR ANIMALS: Depending on the size of the animal, use a dropper to put the Colloidal Silver down the throat, or just put it in your pet's food or water. il In , HeiressArts wrote: > > I have often wondered if I were to take some green bread mold, and ingest > it, if it would be the same thing as taking penicillin? > > I have spent a king's ransom on " the pink stuff. Antibiotics are usually made from molds. different fungi are used for different ones. Fungi don't have the usual defenses like bacteria. They protect themselves from their enemies instead with toxins that are emitted to destroy anything that might 'attack' them. That's why antibiotics work. They are made from these toxins (poisons) that kill bacteria. Any antibiotic taken in high enough quantity can kill you. So you have to use the prescribed amount. The amount of amoxicillin you give to a cat is much less that that prescribed for a child. Some of the toxins (poisons) produced by fungi are very dangerous, so please don't be eating any mold just to see what happens. Just because you don't fall in the floor right then doesn't mean it is safe. Aflatoxin is one of the most dangerous mold toxins. It causes cancer. It can be in our food...might even be on that moldy bread you are eating. There is no safe amount, so the government tests for it, yet still allows a certain amount in our food (and milk) so it isn't such a hardship on the farmers. Other types of molds produce other toxins. The Salam Witch Trials are now thought to be caused the ergot mold in the grains the girls were eating. It causes hallucinations.hallucinations.<WBR>(That same mold toxin is Read more info about it here: _http://tomvolkfungihttp:_ (http://tomvolkfungi.net/) type ERGOT in their search. J Wow. Am I glad I asked. Thank You. Once a " tasted " the end of a piece of clover, because someone told me, hey do this! I DID fall on the kitchen floor! My eyes went side to side rapidly. I witnessed this happening to my 7 year old daughter later, too. I think she tasted honeysuckle at her grandmother's house. I thought she was faking! We had a brain scan (CAT-scan?) the next day and she was alright. What a scare. I've read of people dying from eating old pancake mix with spores, too... I will stick to yogurt and chicken soup. And the yogurt will be " in date. "

Guest guest
Thing of it is, you would injest harmful molds, too, unless you had a sophisticated lab and a chemistry degree to identify it, separate it out, and purify it. Might be simpler to toss the bread and either revisit your doctor or explore other alternatives. You raised an interesting question regarding the properties of edible molds. Mushrooms are fungus and there is evidence that some may have health benefits. Guest guest
Toni, Sometimes I wish I were a scientist (joke) . And thank you. It's just that I don't have health insurance, and every trip to the doctor " hurts. " That's why I'm so attracted to this site. I save money and time sitting around a doctor's office. It wastes all day long, and then I have to go to get a prescription filled (the same one every single time.) It just seems like a " racquet? " at times. I don't hesitate to take my girls, but for me, I don't even have a doctor except my computer. I make my own yogurt. I wonder if you can " culture " the pink stuff? Like sourdough starter? I'd better not try, though I'll stick to my get-better foods and my herbalife and herbal remedies! Someone suggested colloidal silver...I may look into that... Just the act of drinking pure ionized alkaline water can make your body fight off any diseases and infections. No more drugs! Drinking tap water is not safe as the goverment puts chlorine and alows floride to be added to kill germs and 'help' teeth. That old 8 glasses of water a day is true as ever and when you realize that water is what carries all the good things into your body and all the bad things out, it seems soooo simple that people overlook the idea. Check it out at my blog www.kangenwaterreport.com Ionized alkalized water (Kangen water) is a smaller molecule cluster and gets to places and helps heal your body faster than many drugs that the doctor can prescribe. Water by itself is a natural antioxident and the bringing the body back to it's natural state (slightly alkaline) alows the body to heal itself. Have a Great Day! Guest guest
Toni, I have a recipe for yogurt using Dannon as a starter and boiled milk, and also Cottage Cheese (3 ingredients, boiled milk, vinegar and salt.) I will upload them to this site. (I got the yogurt recipe from a Greek cookbook and the cottage cheese recipe online.) Also what is great is that there are not a ton of chemicals added to them. That's the advantage to making things " from scratch " I think. Thanks! Athena >Where do you go to learn all these great recipes? I'm interested in how I can make my own yogurt and things like that.
