Men and phytoestrogens

Okay, so say we were living in a perfect world and all soy was GMO free

and organic and there was no risk of contamination or anything like

that. May I ask for some opinions on men and foods that are high in

phyto-estrogens, please? My husband and I eat very little soy, if any. I

am (still) trying to get pregnant and he's being fantastic with drinking

all the herbal brews I force down his throat (nettle, oat straw and

astragalus, plus Squaw Vine in tincutre when I remember to prepare it

for him). I've been reading a lot of Susun Weed and Rosemary Gladstar

and they suggest that the same teas I'm drinking would be good for him

and his fertility too (red raspberry, red clover, oat straw and nettle).

So my question is, are foods that are high in phytoestrogens like soy

and red clover tea good for men and fertility? My husband had his boys

tested and his number came back okay by the lab but they are still not

as high as I'd like to see them. Will red clover help or hinder our

efforts? And if he eats soy or other legumes a few times a week (we've

been eating a lot of lentils, for examples) do we risk negatively

impacting his sperm count and motility? Anyone have any ideas on that?

Thanks,

ILANA xoxo

Dear Ilana,

I'd stay away from the soy regardless of its quality and phytoestrogens. The only exception would be "sprouted" organic soy.

His best bet is Ginseng. Your's is Wild Yam Root for one month only, and then off of it.

Red Clover, Astragalus, and Oat Straw is fine for the both of you and recommended.

Make sure the both of you get enough exercise.

Love,

Doc
