Guest guest
One solution which I have found to be particularly effective and profoundly interesting for overeating and or weight regulation is to try Qi Gong. I regularly do Qi Gong fasts - invloving simply initiating the meditative atate and doing various sequences of moves - in this system there are some key concepts such as ; qi is the primary animator of life, therfore cultivating our connection can provide nourishment and greatly reduce need for food. Another insight is that the stomach is simply a part of our body requiring exercise - this is what hunger and desire for food can be - we can respond by giving it energetic stimulation. I have used the system of Dao Hua Qi Gong meaning The way of transformation Energy Work. It is profoundly powerful. There are retreats on the subject of dieting, fasting, weight regulation. Ingeneral a rigid attitude toward food is not regarded as healthy. Instead students are given insight and ability to radically reduce dependence on food - on one of these retreats the primary techer, master Xhixing Wang actually gave the students a teaspoon of icecream at the begining and end of the 2 week fast. A sense of humour. The transmission is effective - everybody manged it, including persons who had serious disorderes and illnesses. So with this approach one doessn't need to get too hung up on what one should and should not eat, rather cultivating an ability to reduce dependence ingeneral, increase understanding (- there are many links to sexuality, desire, addiction in general) and also to transform the foods that we do eat.
