Re: [herbal remedies] Digest Number 2286

I don't agree with that MJ. Senna leaf and pod are great cathartics. As such, they create peristalsis and stimulate glandular secretions. The biochemical properties work directly on the tissue of the bowel regardless of nerve supply. It is true that you should use it on a gradient scale and works best with other cathartics such as Casgara Sagrada, Turkey Rhubarb, and Cape Aloe, but I've had some patients with little to no bowel strength on it for well over a year with no deleterious effects. As their bowel strengthened, the dosage cut back, but that only makes sense.

It means the herb is a purgative or purges the bowel of impurities. There are lots of medicinal descriptives for different herbs, you will start remembering them in no time :)

Angel,

You should check the files for the glossary of terms.

It is under the folder marked "Definitions" by Doc Christopher.

What would be a good one?

That's not a joke, I was looking at BAM the other day for home schooling stuff and spotted about six or seven different ones...no telling how many different ones that just weren't in that section...

Or is there one just for stuff like this?

Thanks,

Angel

I think I'll let Zeb answer this one, with him being the expert on what you should get.

I have over two dozen dictionaries (maybe over 3:) ranging from little kid dictionaries all the way up to the big unabridged jobs, with a couple of 'em being either over or almost a hundred years old. Kind of a thing with me LOL

I thing Zeb will recommend a good "High School" dictionary, but he may want to ask you some questions first.

My personal philosophy for as long as I can recall. It is impossible to be lost. You are only lost if you choose to consider that you are not where you are at the moment. You are only lost from another's perspective. If I have missed a few others I apologize. I am never lost and never will be. For no matter where I am I am there because I am supposed to be there and as long as I can see that I am there I cannot be lost.

Love it! good for you Don.. you'll never be one of those people

allways trying to " find my self! " It is good to know where one is and

even better if one likes it..... i like where i am, what i am and who

i am because i am the product of everyone i have ever known or read

about. Each effect me in some way or another so they are a part of me

and i a part of them so if i like something about them, i have to like

me. if i condemn them i condemn myself.

just a thought... love... lee.

How true, how true. Ahh I love wisdom. Maybe next time around I won't wait until I am 45 to be wise. Hehehe. Better to start young and really grow into it. Yes, every one all over the world past/present/future has/have/will have contributed to who I was/am/will be for all eternity. Thank you Lee, I love your philosophy and outlook on life. Everything is beautiful in the universe.
