I thought ringworm actually looked like a worm shape under teh skin. Maybe more people can help you with this as I havent had it. It doesnt really sound like ringworm to me though. Maybe a type of reaction? Erin
Guest guest
I would say that the itching is a sign of it healing...as with other types of skin wounds. Gaye

Guest guest
It probably is just a blackhead that filled up the pore and got slightly infected so that it popped out with a little pressure. A ring-worm is not really a worm that crawls. It's a ring of little tiny rough, dry, dots in an ever expanding circle which, as it grows larger... sort of like a fairy ring on the lawn.. the center part seems to clear up and look fairly normal. it will itch and it is very contageous. Scratching it can transfer the spores to another location. Animals who get it, if a little run down, can be really subject to ever expanding sores. There used to be a medication called, if i remember right, Gentian Violet and it is really good to kill the fungus, but I haven't seen any for many years and strong iodine is very good. It is so purple it is almost black; looks like purple ink. Just don't put a bandage over the sores if you put iodine on them as it can cause a physical burn; not just a hot feeling, but an actual burn of the flesh. It has to have air. love... lee. herbal remedies , " C. Guest guest
It's not ringworm. Sounds like a sebaceous cyst. What was the consistency and color of the contents?
