http://www.sonic.net/cnds/gulfwar.html Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND)Gulf War SyndromeGulf War Illness It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it. Upton Sinclair I first heard about the syndrome later to be called Gulf War Illness or Gulf War Syndrome while watching Larry King on CNN back in 1991-2. He was interviewing a much decorated general and the late John Kennedy, Jr. Also appearing on the program was the head of the veterans group headquartered in Washington. As I sat there listening to the litany of symptoms being experienced by military personnel who had served in the GW, here and abroad, and the disbelief and disdain with which they were subjected to by their doctors, it was like déjà vu all over again, to quote Yogi Berra. As someone who experienced most of the same symptoms, and who had met with the same reaction from doctors, I knew what they were going through. I also knew that there was information out there they weren't aware of. The next morning, I tracked down the phone number for the veterans group in Washington and spoke to the man I had listened to the night before...and told him about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.Since I first put up this page in 1995, there has been an explosion of information on GWI on the Internet (not to speak of the flurry of ass-covering, continued denials, and prevarications coming out of the federal side of Washington DC). Because there has been a growing body of information and resources out there, I stopped adding resources to this page. I left the articles I added in 1997, and updated the links to the resource and information sites. Please explore those sites, and the ones linked to them, for the information you are looking for in your search for answers and medical treatment.
