Overmedicating America: The Cruise Controversy

When Tom Cruise gave his opinion about the drugging of America, he created a firestorm of controversy. Are we an overmedicated nation? Dave and Jill feel as if their 7-year-old son is holding them hostage in their own home. He's on three medications, but his uncontrollable fits of rage are destroying their marriage. Is this a real medical issue or a parenting problem? Then, two women with powerful personal stories debate the "Cruise controversy." They both think their opinion is right, but what does Dr. Phil think? Plus,an outraged father confronts his ex-wife and demands that she stop medicating their 9-year-old son.

Tomorrow, [Wednesday, September 28}, Dr. Phil will be discussingpostpartum depression. Check your local listing to find what time the show will air and on what station.One of the guests on the show will be our own Cynthia Garcia. She will discuss her terrible reaction to Prozac when it was prescribed to her for postpartum depression.Because the show was edited after Cynthia's interview, we have noidea which direction the show will go but we do know Cynthia did an incredible job explaining the serious side effects of these drugs. We are hoping Dr. Phil will take the proper approach to the show and warn his listeners of the serious dangers of SSRIs.If Dr. Phil does not warn of these dangers, we would hope that all of you will write to him and let him know what you think about this.

Also, while you are at it, you may want to send another copy of your letter to Oprah Winfrey who did a show with Brooke Shields today. Oprah and Brooke Shields made SSRIs sound as American as apple pie, motherhood [!} and
