Dear Iowans and friends of Health Freedom.

Our friends in Mo. (after helping Ia. pass the first bill in the

nation to ban mercury in vaccines ) need our help.

Please pitch in.

Mo.'s bill number is HB 852. Please read on and pass this on.

Please do not let one man stand in the way of the will of the

people. This is not what freedom is about. It is time for the

grass roots to be heard!

Thank you.

Hi Everyone - HELP!! Missouri is in trouble - with only five days

left (this week) in the legislative session, their bill is in danger

of dying in the Senate! Read the details below, and please fax and

call this Senator, and email all of your friends and colleagues and

ask them to do the same. Even if you are from out-of-state, Lujene

says it will help! Especially if you know anyone in Missouri, they

need to do lots of phoning and faxing this week to get this thing to

the floor - we were in a similar spot with our bill recently, and

Lujene came here to help us and we got it passed. Let's get

everyone we know on this and jam up their fax machines and phone

lines!!! Crunch time is here - thanks in advance for any help you

can lend! Take care - Dana

Hi all,

The current Missouri legislative session only has five days left.

If H.B. 852 isn't voted on in the Senate by next Friday, it will die

on the vine. Apparently, the Senator who sets the voting priorities

is holding this up by not placing H.B. 852 on the Senate calendar.

This is Senator Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau who may be running

for Lt. Governor in the next election. Here are his remarks to the

Southeast Missourian in a recent article on this legislation:

From http://www.semissourian.com/story.html$rec=136263

" My understanding is that it is totally unproven that there is any

connection between vaccines and autism, " Kinder said. " I'm highly

uncertain and highly unconvinced of the need of HB852 at this time.

Pediatricians and other medical officials have told me that this

bill would be placing thousands and thousands of children at risk.

Any proposal such as this needs a burden of proof. At this point,

the burden has not been met. "

Kinder referred to the risk that parents might avoid getting

immunizations or flu shots for their children out of ungrounded

fears about thimerosal. __________________________

We need to let him know ASAP how important this legislation is for

our children. Please take a moment to call Senator Kinder's office

or fax him a letter urging him to move on this legislation before

it's too late. Here is his contact information:

Thanks so much for anything you have time for!

The following is a letter to Mo. Sen. Pete Kinder from Dr. and Mrs.

Alan D. Clark. Mrs Clark's (Lujean) efforts in Iowa were

instrumental in passing Iowa's SF 2209 banning thimerosal in Iowa.

RE: HB 852 – Ban Mercury in Vaccines

Dear Senator Kinder,

As a mother of a child diagnosed with mercury poisoning from

vaccines, I am very concerned about HB 852 languishing in limbo

despite it being passed overwhelmingly by the House 152-4 on March

15, 2004 and despite being recommended unanimously by the Senate

Committee on Aging, Families, Mental and Public Health on April 7,

2004. As a taxpayer, registered voter and supporter of the

Republican Party, I am particularly dismayed at your stance on HB

852.

I am quite confused as to why you are not supporting your Missouri

Republican colleagues, five of whom are physicians and one a

pharmaceutical representative. We have seen such tremendous support

from all of the other Missouri Republican leaders (and almost all of

the Democrats, as well) calling for the removal of this known

neurotoxin from childhood vaccines. For example, the outstanding

leadership of State Representative Roy Holand, M.D. and the other

physician legislators in the House was vital not only in obtaining

support and passage in the House but also in their support and/or

testimony before the Senate Committee on Aging, Families, Mental and

Public Health. Further, the Speaker of the House, Catherine

Hanaway, not only joined Dr. Holand on the press release and gave

the bill her full public support; she was instrumental in assuring

the bill moved rapidly through the House legislative process.

Additionally, Republican gubernatorial candidate and current

Secretary of State, Matt Blunt has publicly stated his support for

HB 852 removing mercury from childhood vaccines. We have had this

positive response because legislators took the time to review the

voluminous peer-reviewed scientific evidence regarding the acute

toxicity of Thimerosal, even at minute levels. For an overview of

this research, please go to

http://www.nomercury.org/is_mercury_dangerous.htm. Won't you

please reconsider your position? Won't you please allow this bill a

fair chance by bringing it to the floor timely as is your

responsibility?

Are you aware of the concerns and efforts of numerous national

Republican leaders; one of whom is a physician, Congressman Dave

Weldon, M.D., who introduced HR 4169 The Mercury-Free Vaccine Act of

2004? Don't you agree it would be prudent to follow the July 1999

recommendations of the US Public Health Service; the American

Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association calling

for the removal of thimerosal in childhood vaccines? Further, by

supporting HB 852 you would be following the October 2001

recommendations of the National Institute of Health, Institute of

Medicine – Vaccine Safety Review Committee calling for government

agencies and medical societies to give full consideration to

removing thimerosal from all vaccines intended for infants, children

and pregnant women.

Additionally, according to public statements made by Len Lavenda,

spokesman of Aventis Pasteur (maker of childhood flu vaccines), they

can and will make sufficient thimerosal-free flu vaccines if given

ample notice (mid-May of each year). Therefore, Senator Kinder,

your concerns regarding children not getting vaccinated if HB 852 is

passed are unfounded. One of the primary reasons that parents would

refuse to vaccinate their children is if the vaccines continue to

contain Thimerosal.

I am very pro-vaccine and fully understand that a strong

immunization program is important. However, we also have a

responsibility to ensure vaccines are as safe as possible. Please

assist parents, physicians and your Republican colleagues in making

vaccines safer for Missouri children by bringing HB 852 to the floor

immediately and giving it your full support.

Sincerely,

Lujene G. Clark
