Guest guest
I just joined your email group and I'm not sure how many members may be in Colorado, but I would like to announce the following meeting through your group if possible: IMPORTANT MESSAGE TOWN HALL MEETING: COLORADO CITIZENS' HEALTHCARE FREEDOM OF CHOICE AT RISK Find out how our local officials are working to end access to alternative health care statewide! TUESDAY, JUNE 1ST – 7PM 4964 WARD RD., WHEAT RIDGE, CO 80033 SPACE LIMITED – CALL FOR SEATS (303) 996-6262 LOCAL LEADERS AND PRACTITIONERS ALIKE WILL BE SPEAKING ON THIS VITAL ISSUE! ________________ MORE INFO: The freedom of each citizen to elect a treatment of choice in combating any illness is a basic liberty. Liberty within the meaning of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution, encompasses bodily integrity, a right to control one's person. Liberty encompasses personal, life-affecting decisions such as whether to refuse unwanted drugs or to refuse unwanted medical treatment necessary to sustain life. However, in Colorado, current state law permits only state licensed MEDICAL doctors and osteopaths to " diagnose, treat, prescribe for, palliate, or prevent any human disease, ailment, pain, injury, deformity, or physical or mental condition, whether by the use of drugs, surgery, manipulation, electricity, telemedicine, the interpretation of tests, including primary diagnosis of pathology specimens, images, or photographs, or any physical, mechanical, or other means whatsoever " . Furthermore, alternative healthcare practitioners in Colorado, are prevented from " suggesting, recommending, prescribing, or administering any form of treatment, operation, or healing for the intended palliation, relief, or cure of any physical or mental disease, ailment, injury, condition, or defect of any person. " What does this mean for Colorado naturopaths who do not have a medical license? It means that they may be prosecuted at any time for any reason regardless of their experience, education, national licensing or certification. This breadth of authority over alternative health care is staggering! In fact, naturopaths in Colorado are regulated under police power whereby allowing local authorities to raid offices, take product and equipment, cease operations, and embark on lengthy legal battles against practitioners. The situation is similar for herbalists, body workers, and other providers of healing services. How You Can Support Change in Healthcare? People across the nation are fighting for a new paradigm in health care - one that will preserve the right of citizens to help others heal, and preserve the right of consumers to access the healing work that they believe is right for them. Recent legal cases brought on here in Colorado serve to demonstrate that this threat reaches us close to home. It is your time to speak up to preserve the right for health care options to those who pursue alternative treatment! On the heels of Memorial Day, a " town hall " meeting will be held on June 1st, 7pm at 4964 Ward Road, Wheat Ridge. There, we will discuss strategies and options for speaking out and lending support to local leaders and practitioners deeply involved in fighting this battle for freedom. Space is limited for this timely topic, save your seat by calling (303) 996-6262 today!
