Guest guest
My mother-in-law came to my home to recuperate from laproscopic(or however it is spelled) surgery yesterday. Due to having the operation and to taking the codeine prescribed for her by the doctor, she HAS NOT MOVED HER BOWELS IN AT LEAST THREE DAYS. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SUCH CARELESSNESS OR STUPIDITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember the last time I had an operation, for hernia, it had been so long since I'd been cut by a surgeon that I forgot what an operation + codeine DOES to a person's intestines. I got (BADLY!) constipated for the first time in years, and MAAAAAAAAAAN, did I ever call up the doctor AND the hospital and TELL THEM OFF!!!! THEY KNOW WHAT SURGERY and CODEINE DO to a person!!! And they should ALWAYS ADVISE a client about what to do so as NOT to SUFFER FOR DAYS AFTER THE OPERATION!!! I DO NOT KNOW how LONG my mother-in-law would have REMAINED constipated had she not come here to recuperate and had my wife not asked her!!!!!!! IT CANNOT BE GOOD FOR A PERSON RECUPERATING FROM AN OPERATION TO BE CONSTIPATED FOR DAYS AT A TIME!!! SUCH NEGLECT OF SUCH A SIMPLE THING TO PREVENT MAKES ME FURIOUS!!! CAN YOU TELL I'M FURIOUS? LOL! THOUGHT SO! Please, please, please---tell ANYONE you know who is having to have surgery to take a gentle but effective laxative as soon after surgery as possible! I mean, this is LAPROSCOPIC SURGERY---there is NO chance that a bowel movement will pull out stitches or do any harm! But being constipated for days at a time is very uncomfortable, to say the least, and it could even do harm! AAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elliot ( Moderator's note: Rather than use an over the counter laxative, it is quite easy to induce a bowel movement. Just take too much vitamin C at one time and when the acorbic acid hits the lower bowels it produces the desired result. And it is non toxic in every way. It is required for healing anyway and helps all of the bodies systems in the process.)
