" This seems to be the Republican stand. You can hit them with every fact under the sun. You can show them footage of their candidate making his false statements and promises broken. You can let them read the transcripts in the President's own words. THEY WILL NOT BELIEVE YOU! No matter what Mr. Bush says, once it has passed his smirking lips and into the wind of the world, the message has for all practical purposes, been erased from the public mindscape. How do you reason with a group of people who, as their basic premise, see George W. Bush as the absolute embodiment of America? He can do no wrong. To question George is to question America. That this idolatry reaches virtually every sector of our society is absolutely amazing. You have the wealthy. His kind of folk. I can see this. They have something to gain. But, on the other hand, you have your working person, your Factory Joes, thinking that " W " is God's blessing to America. " A real down to earth, down home guy. " (Yeah, sure) The Bush Administration's Policies kick their ass each and every day. Don't matter. They get a beating on worker's rights, benefits, health care, pay, job security. Does it matter? Nope. George Bush is the man. He can do no wrong. " W " is the perfect American President - all puff and swagger - a man's man, at least in a movie poster kind of way. He's an actor, a liar. All bullshit and no substance. Remember his entrance onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln? " W " at his finest. Dressed to the nines in a flight suit, with what appeared to be a cod piece prominently displayed beneath his tightly tethered flight pants. A work of walking art. The public seems to love it. A wink, a nod, a shrug, a smirk, the Vegas two fingered point, and in like Flynn. We love our actors. We loved Ronnie. We loved Wayne. We love " W. " When " W " lies, he lies BIG. No fooling around. Doesn't matter if what he says is true or not - it's how he says it. If it sounds good at the photo-op, it's a go. Will it come back to haunt him? Naaa...His boys have the knack for making anyone who dares question look like an unpatriotic, un-American lying fool! Oh, the beauty! Hitler said if your going to lie, lie BIG. The bigger the lie, the more people will fall for it. If the lie is big enough, they can't imagine that it is not true. Good psychology never goes out of style. On to the small business owner. A mixed bag. We have lots of great people here, providing products, services and jobs. People who care about their employees. And then...and then, you have the ones who love the word " advantage. " They take advantage of their customers, their employees, and their every opportunity to give a good screwing. These guys pay low, charge high, provide no health care, or, bad and over priced health care, and think profit uber alus. These guys LOVE Bush. I received an email the other day from a fellow from Michigan. He was irate because I had posted a message on a board disagreeing with President Bush's Iraqi policy. This fellow couldn't keep his comments to the boards, so he decided to send a " personal " email. He rode me up one side and down the other. I was an " unpatriotic, un-American piece of shit " - and those were the kind words. He went on to tell me how he was a business owner and that Bush was good to him, and that he didn't need any f'in lefty Government programs to help HIM out. HE was self made. He was doing just fine, thank you! He said that us " liberals " were lazy and worthless and the reason we all do so badly is because we all want handouts and weren't willing to work hard like HIM. HE believed in Capitalism and the Republican way. Like WE'RE all a bunch of Communists. I clicked on his AOL Profile, and sure enough it had a link to a Homepage. B______ Meat Market. Apparently, the pride of Michigan bovine slabbers. Fine wines too. Not bad, I thought, good for him, then I notice another Link, at the bottom of the Homepage. It read: Are You A Wal-Mart Shopper? I clicked that Link, and lo and behold, surprise, surprise...this dude goes on a diatribe about Wal-Mart! He says that if you shop at Wal-Mart you are un-American! Yes siree dowdy! Ain't that sweet!? He says that big bad ol' Wal-Mart is breaking the back of poor ol' little business America. What about Capitalism? Free enterprise? Giving the consumer a product for a better price? Wal-Mart IS Capitalism at its very finest! What gives? How many ways does this guy want it? I emailed him back stating my concerns about his misguided confusion about business, the American way, and Capitalism. I asked him why he was bitching about big business pushing into his turf. He had told me he was all for President Bush and all the great things he was doing for him. President Bush is the big business President. I asked him how in the world he could vote for a President who was in the corner of the same big business' who were out to crush him? I got an email back the next day. It read: " F you, you Liberal scum. I'm voting for Bush, not that traitor Kerry! " OK... The Veterans. Figure these guys why don't you. Not all, but MANY of them will be voting for George W. Bush. A President, Commander in Chief, whose dad bought his way into the National Guard during the Viet Nam war...damn...I meant " conflict. " The National Guard was not easy to get into at the time, and neither was the Coast Guard. On top of that George checked the box on his application declining foreign service. Meaning? Yeah, you guessed it. Then he took the famous year long hiatus (they used to call it AWOL) and didn't show up for his flight physical (drug problem?). His Guard papers mysteriously disappear...and...well...the story is old hat by now. Cheney. Ah, Vice President Cheney. He dodged the draft so hard he damn near caught cold. But, to these Veterans, you'd think that these two fine fellows were regular Audey Murpheys! John Kerry, who volunteered, served in Viet Nam, was Decorated (regardless of what the Republicans would have you believe), and when he got home, fought to get the rest of the troops home before anymore than the already 58,000 would needlessly die. Of course, he is called a coward for this. Again, un-American. Kerry, along with millions of other Americans fought to get those troops home from a war that was without rhyme or reason. They were called Lefties, Liberals, commies, cowards, unpatriotic, un-American sons-o-bitches who hated our troops and our country. Remember? Nixon got the credit for bringing them home. Nixon and a Republican Administration. The war was wrong. It was time to get the troops home. Thank you Nixon. Another lying, lip sweating, forerunner to George. Nixon was an old school crook. " W " is dangerous. Tonight we will have the debates (?). They really aren't debates at all. It is a chance for Bush and Kerry to get on stage, behind a podium and state their respective cases. That's it. Kerry will offer up his side of the story; put forth his stance on terrorism, and security, and national economics. Good luck. George is the man. He keeps us safe and warm. He keeps food on our tables, and God in our homes and Government. He's fighting terrorism by bombing Iraq flat. And most of all...he got that son-of-a-bitch who was responsible for laying waste to the World Trade Towers: Saddam Huesin. George will come out and do what he does best...tell a damn good story with swagger and dash. He did it in the first debates with Gore, he'll do it now. Lie and don't follow through. The Democrats will be sitting at home, blood pressure shooting through the ceiling, heads right ready to explode. The Republicans will be slapping their thighs and laughing, commenting on how ol' " W " sure did give it to that idiot Kerry. The only thing that the Bushies will be deprived of is the cameras showing " W's " smirking face reacting to Kerry's speech. What is it they say? A picture is worth a thousand words? When all is said and done, and Friday morning rolls around, and the Spin Doctors are busy spinning, and Karl Rove is busy doing Inversion equations, and the rank and file are busy denying all the " Liberal " lies and nonsense concerning the lies and nonsense spoken the night before by their Light of Lights...it all comes down to, they just won't believe it unless it comes from the lips of a liar.
