Hi Rosie & All:

I joined this group in an effort to educate myself on other ways to treat my

severe anxiety other than Anti-Depressant's. I have NEVER in my life taken

much more than occasional aspirin or antibiotics, but for the past year my

doctor has me on Effexor XR 150mg. I have to say the anxiety has absolutely

disappeared, BUT the side affects are significant (muscle twitching,

dialated eyes, rapid pulse, sleep disturbances). The reason this post

caught my eye is I have noticed I am much more " lax " about things.... but

almost TOO much so. Do you know what I mean? Like I will do things I would

never do before, my husband calls this Effexor I'm on " Laura's Courage in a

Capsule " .

I told my doc I want to get off this medicine... she said " Ok but know this:

Once going off AD's, anxiety returns in 80% of the patients " . WOW!

Needless to say that's why I'm looking here and elsewhere... trying to find

supplements or anything that will allow me to be in the 20% range of

patients that the anxiety DOESN'T return!

Thanks for reading,

Laura in Florida

Hi Laura,

You may be magnesium defecient, anxiety is one of a host of

symptoms. Taking upwards of 1000 mgms a day to bowel tolerance for 3

months could really help. There is a product called " Natural Calm "

that you can dilute in hot tea that is absorbed quickly. Otherwise

mag citrate is also good. Also, anxiety can be from other issues,

such as aspartame or mercury poisoning.

Look for a doctor under www.acam.org/or a nutritional oriented doc

to help you sort out the best direction to take.

Good Luck! Kate

HI Laura, I'm having the same problems getting off of zoloft. I get violent

panick attacks that wake me out of me sleep at night if I try to wean off

zoloft. I noticed these panic attacks are worse the more sugar I have throughout

the day. I think I will try b vitamins and see if the anxiety lessens.
