Guest guest
Of course that is the reason that he was put in that office in the first place, so he could shield the drug companies, but I am posting this anyway. F. SSRI-Research@ Sat, 06 Nov 2004 15:00:06 -0000 Subject:[drugawareness] URGENT! URGENT! URGENT! Monday-Daniel Troy & Congressman Hinche We need you to write to Senator Bennett ASAP to urge him to vote for this bill on Monday (see letter below) that would hold Mr. Daniel Troy responsible for his actions within the FDA. This will be a HUGE set in our work to set things straight at the FDA. Especially needed are letters from those in Senator Bennett's home state of Utah. Few have shielded the big drug companies from litigation holding them responsible for their actions better than Daniel Troy has done. He is clearly the " Fox " guarding the " Hen House " in this national tragedy caused by the SSRI antidepressants. He currently serves as lead council for the FDA after leaving Pfizer as one of their leading attorneys. If you would like to see an excellent expose on Mr. Troy from the ABC station out of DC which aired just last night, you can go to: http://www.wjla.com/abc7videopop.hrb?a=f & n=s & s=185257 & file=http://video.wjla.com/wjla/medical1104.wmv And if you would like a little background on Daniel Troy you can find that information in one of the last e-newsletters we sent to you. Within the next few days you will also find a petition posted on our site at www.drugawareness.org asking for the removal of Daniel Troy from his office at the FDA due to his misuse of his office. Please find a minute to sign it. This man needs to be removed from the dangerous position he is in! I Can't Get Off My Antidepressant! " Order Number: 800-280-0730 Office: 801-282-5282 Dear All, We have just received word that key members of Congress are considering Congressman Hinchey's amendment to the FDA appropriations bill (2005) as I write this. As many of you already know, Hinchey's amendment is already currently a part of this bill. This amendment proposes to remove $500,000 from Daniel Troy's office to sanction him for misleading Congress about his efforts to insulate drug manufactures from liability. Because Senator Bennett of Utah is the Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee considering this amendment, his position on the amendment is critical. It is therefore imperative that all Utah residents and concerned citizens contact Senator Bennett and urge him to Support Hinchey's amendment. Pasted below this email is a sample letter that you can sign and either email or fax to Senator Bennett's office. Because inclusion of this amendment could be decided as early as this Monday, only emails, phone calls and faxes will reach the Senator in time to persuade him to support this amendment. Senator Bennett's phone number, fax number and email address are also pasted below. If you have the time, please modify or add to the below sample letter to tell Senator Bennett a bit about your own personal tragedy related to SSRI drugs. Only the stories of the families and survivors are likely to make a difference now. Also, please forward this message to everyone you know in Utah or elsewhere. The more people that contact and write to Senator Bennett immediately, the better. Thanks much, Jessica Jessica Rae Dart, Esq. As a citizen and constituent who has been profoundly and irrevocably effected by the failure of the FDA to require timely and adequate warnings for SSRI drugs, I call upon you to do the right thing and support this amendment in full. The Chief Counsel of the FDA, Mr. Daniel E. Troy, should not be allowed to invoke the powers of the United States government to defeat citizen attempts to bring his former clients to justice. It is Mr. Troy's duty as an FDA official to protect the FDA's mandate, not destroy it. That mandate is to protect citizens from unsafe food, drugs and other medical products by regulating industry, not by serving as its promotional arm, legal advocate, and lap dog. Various government investigations have found (and are continuing to find) that Daniel Troy has taken large amounts of money from the very companies he is supposed to be helping the FDA to regulate. These investigations have found (and are continuing to find) that Daniel Troy has spent his time at the FDA doing everything in his power to nullify peoples' rights under state law when that law is inconsistent with the wishes of industry. For those of us who have lost a loved one to an SSRI drug, there is simply no excuse for Daniel Troy's attempts to shield SSRI manufacturers from public exposure and liability. It is " public servants " like him who cause American citizens to lose all faith in government. Congress has never given the FDA the power that Daniel Troy is now asserting on its behalf. He has just taken it and his acts betray his utter contempt, not only for our system of checks and balances, but also for the very people he is supposed to be servings as a public official. I urge you to support Congressman Hinchey's amendment. This amendment is necessary to prevent Daniel Troy from continuing to use U.S. taxpayer money to do free legal work for the very group of drug companies that have failed to warn that their SSRI drug could kill my ____ (child, husband, wife, etc). Sincerely, ----------------
