Guest guest
Dear nieema0, I don't know who nieema0 is or why anyone would be giving medical advice about how to turn a breech baby over the internet, but I would caution anyone about responding off line to anyone soliciting information that might be considered practicing medicine without a license-especially when it involves the life of a fetus. If the family wants to experiment around with trying to move a breech baby without the advise of the OB-GYN, there should be references on the internet with a word search or perhaps in a health food store or a library. I've never experimented around with this issue but I would be highly concerned that trying to move a breech baby might result in the cord getting caught around the baby's neck that could result in death, brain injury and/or cerebral palsy. The information procured under those circumstances would have been procured by the family in a publication that was not specifically offered in reference to a specific case that might have adverse complications as a result of implementing the off -line intenet medical advice. I am sure that nieema means well but if an operative was to be on this list attempting to have a negative impact on alternative health, asking for someone to give medical advise that is not licensed to practice medicine off line would be good way to do it. That said: You might want to search the following for an answer to your question. I have no idea if the issue is addressed there. www.alternativemedicine.com www.garynull.com Thank you, Dr. Sandra Lance, D.C. ---- Original Message ----- " nieema " <nieema0 Thursday, February 03, 2005 7:58 AM Question Off Topic but important > > > Greetings All > > On another group A woman asked if anyone knew any information on how to > help a baby that is breech turn. > > She is in week 36 and is due Feb. 25th. > > She asked for any suggestions... > > If you do have any please email me privately. > > nieema0 > > I thank you in advance > > good health and the way to maintain it > > nieema

As their child was being born,it presented with the cord around the neck, the doctor used forceps and this resulted in brain damage and a week later -death. We decided for a number of reasons to do what most of the world's population does -give birth at home! with a very gentle and vastly experienced doctor in attendance- along with his " birth helpers " . I asked " what would he do if the same thing happened to our baby -re the cord " the birth helper told me - the doctor usually can gently loop it over the head, and if it is too tight and life threatening, he would not use forceps on the babies head but rather he would just clamp and cut the cord early. This made sense to me and i felt sorry for our friends who possibly lost their baby due to the incompetancy of a doctor who should have known better. The lesson again learnt for me - don't be threatened by the bullies in our society who try to play the prince over us and threaten us with legal action just because we are intelligent people (without medical degrees)who want to gather information in order to exercise our God given right to make an informed choice when it comes to our health and the health of our children. I've seen and heard so much of this over the years- and now it seems ,with CODEX looming, again the social nannies are again wanting to control what goes into my mouth! As well as what comes out of it. Don't bully ,rather -educate, share discuss ,by all means -but don't bully. kim
Guest guest
Dear Dr. Lance, With all due respect, I don't think anyone was suggesting delivering their own baby. It seems to me fine to ask if anyone has any references on the subject. After all, how else would you ever know? This is your second reference to cautioning a person from inquiring about a problem (earlier eczema) and I am concerned that it will make people feel shamed for seeking knowledge. Providing leads on information is not practicing medicine without a license. I have read about turning breech babies around in childbirth books. It used to be that skilled doctors and midwives could often encourage a baby to turn. Sometimes the baby will naturally turn before birth. A place in Tennessee called The Farm are famous for their midwives. " People come from all over the world to receive the home birth services provided by The Farm Midwifery Center. Most are from middle Tennessee or northern Alabama, visiting monthly, then weekly for prenatal care, then traveling to the Midwifery Center once labor has begun. Those from further away make plans for an extended stay in one of several available cabins and birthing rooms.
