Guest guest
So after doing some reading and being fairly confused as to what would work best for me this what I have come up with. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Welcome to this great community. Andrew, our group moderator/owner has fantastic information on stop smoking. I did his free stop smoking challange and I have been free of cigs for 2 year! yeah!!! His program is here- http://www.peacefulmind.com/stop_smoking.htm and his detox program (also free and great info) you can do as you detox from the cig smoking. That page is here- http://www.peacefulmind.com/detox.htm He also has basic, easy to follow meditations, yoga breathing and I think if you are in the New York City area, he can even see you as a patient in his clinic. I hope this helps...it helped me. Thanks John
Guest guest
Excellent program! I would add a couple suggestions here. Cold turkey on the cigs...it won't do any good to detox if you're putting the toxins right back in. It will help with breathing etc. Use Una De Gato (Cat's Claw) to help with cravings and withdrawls. Also switch to organic decaf coffee instead of regular coffee and you could start by doing half reg, half decaf. Excersize no less than 20 minutes 3 times a week and should break a sweat. You can alternate workouts with walking and stretching to avoid being overly sore. Kelly Howell at www.brainsync.com has great mediation CD's and tapes I love them and have several. Also Louise L. Hay has excellent CD's. I love her 101 Power Thoughts. I recommend to my clients 40 minutes a day for mediation especially after meals you can combine the deep breathing with this as it is a part of meditation. What are your plans for continuing this lifestyle change after your cleanse? What type of foods are you planning on adding back or eliminating permanently? What about supplements? Almost every client I work on has a Fatty Acid, mineral and amino acid defieciency going on... The cleanse is great....what is your followup plan? Guest guest
Good for you for starting good inner cleanse plan! Way to go! My suggestions would be during your first section to cut down by one cigarette a day instead of dropping from 8 to 4 suddenly (you may have planned that but didn't note it). Make sure you get some minerals via good sea salt, not table salt. This will help keep your minerals balanced. You can use a colloidal mineral drink, but it's cheaper to use sea salt. You can take a bit in each glass of water, or just take some on your food or directly in your mouth followed by a glass of water to wash it down. May I ask why you want to do this so quickly? With what you smoke and the coffee you drink you may want to take it slower so that you don't have such withdrawal symptoms. I'd quit those first--at least the smoking, and then continue with your plan. If you detox too quickly you can wind up feeling sick. Also, make sure, no matter which path or detox you follow, that you take a mild laxative every day. You MUST get all the toxins OUT of your body, because if you don't they just get absorbed back into your system and will make you very ill. That's a big problem and why most people getting sick while detoxing--they are flushing their kidneys (or not) but not their bowels. The only way to get toxins out are pooping, peeing and sweating, so don't forget the pooping. :-) And you might want to do the Steam showers every day. That will help detox too. Then, when you are done with what you have planned, it wouldn't hurt to do a liver detox. There are lots of good ones, though I much prefer the Dr. Schulze liver detox. What you are planning will be good at removing lots of gunk in your system and especially your kidneys, but I see nothing particular for the liver. The liver is your number one organ for keeping your body clean, so don't forget it. Good luck! Guest guest
Cold turkey hasn't work out for me yet. I do plan to be off of them before I do the 3 day water detox. I am going to try the Cat's claw. How do I take it? I will rework the exercise and check into the cd's. I have a few cd's a friend made me and I have to start with those. I have used them in the past my mind just won't relax it runs crazy. Starting tonight I am taking a warm bath and listening to them while I fall asleep (normally watch tv till I fall out). As for the after. I am walking with my husband and daughter one night a week and gym 3 times a week. That is a big goal for me. But I am committed. We have slowly been changing our grocery list (still have a ways to go). But we are trying to plan and eat healthier meals and are taking our lunch instead of eating out every day. My husband and kids are kinda on board with me, but they are having a hard time in the food area. Convenience food has become a way of life with our busy schedules (which we have slowed down recently). I don't buy Little Debbie's or ice cream any longer. I get fruit, yogurt and granola bars(can't tell if the bars are really that healthy). We don't fry things any longer and switch to virgin olive oil. I just keep trying to change a few items a week till we get where we need to be. The coffee is the hardest, we have went to a half caffeine 6 months ago and are planning to go decaf by the end of the month. At work we don't have a choice so I am trying to find something healthy for my husband to drink, I am good with water. Also trying to by as much organic as possible. I have a box of Juice Plus supplements to start on this week. There are so many, I had no clue. These are supposed to have all the fruits and veggies you need for a day and be all natural. So I do have a plan, its far from perfect but a start. I am going at it slowly because every other time we jumped in and was over whelmed and give up. Thanks for your support. I come from a large family of eater's,smoker's and coffee drinkers. Every family event is unhealthy and they all seem to think I have lost my mind. Their theory is " You have to die from something " . I love them dearly but they are over weight and unhealthy. I now am over weight (last 4 years) and my husband and we just don't want that. We feel sluggish, tired and irritable all of the time. My husband has already quit smoking and started taking karate. We just want to feel good is all. Thank you so much for your feed back. Guest guest
While very admirable, I think you might throw your body into toxic overload as you may be cutting back too fast. Instead of going right to fruits and veggies on the 28th - 1st, why not go to vegetables and fruits with one or two servings of beans/oatmeal a day. If you go into toxic overload too fast you are going to experience such severe symptoms you may not be able to - or want to - continue. If you do things a little less fast you will be able to sustain it longer. For instance, with the cigarettes and coffee.... cut in half again for another three days then quit and go on the water. I'm not sure about going on the water alone. I've done water fasts and that was after having been on a detox program and being a vegetarian for a number of years. You might want to use vegetable water/potassium broth instead to keep you mineralized. Additionally you can also add some epsom salts baths - which will pull out toxins. On the days before you fast - try to eat some seaweed (also good for binding with toxins) or take a lot of chlorella (does the same thing - binds with toxins). Don't wish to be a wet blanket but would like to see you survive this comfortably enough that you complete it. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I've quit smoking lots of times and permanently about 12 years ago. I went cold turkey and told myself that I was a non-smoker and why the heck would I crave a cigarette? That doesn't happen to non- smokers! It was the first time I didn't get the severe cravings. I made a major commitment to become a non-smoker, told God I was quitting and that was it. I tossed out ashtrays and no one was allowed to smoke in my place anymore. I stayed away from non- smokers during this time and slowly found that I changed so much I didn't really want to be around smokers at all. I felt sick around smoke and still do to this day. I can't stand cigarette smoke. Filling the brain with amino acids is a big help to overcome cravings as well. A couple years ago I started drinking " healthy coffee " which contains reishi mushroom and found that my sweets craving disappeared and my adrenals healed themselves. I love coffee and this one is alkaline as opposed to acid. A naturopath told me that you need to drink 17 glasses of water to wash away the acid created by one cup of coffee! EFT (www.emofree.com) will also help most people for cravings. I wouldn't recommend a water only fast. If you do end up doing it, make sure you eat only some raw foods for three days after. Don't follow with fish. Most fish is full of mercury and you'll just poison yourself. Water fasting used to be good before our earth got so polluted. We're simply too toxic for that now. Fruit and veggie juice fasting is safer. I think you're going a bit quick with it. A raw food diet is safer for detoxifying, losing weight, etc. Green smoothies are great: 30-40% greens with the rest fruit (some may be frozen). Just blend and drink. Use as a meal replacement. " chew " these to produce extra enzymes. Add a probiotic superfood to fix your bowels while you're at it. Mike Brescia has a CD for quitting smoking. I think his website is www.thinkrightnow.com. I have some of his other CDs and am quite happy with them. If you do the steam showers, make sure you have a shower filter to get rid of chlorine. A hot 10 minute shower is like drinking 8 glasses of tap water. Yuck! If you have any questions about any of these things, please email me off-group: hotmocha since I won't be visiting the group much this week. Guest guest
Yes, it's real coffee and tastes like it too but the reishi makes it alkaline. Pesticide-free as well and reishi is organically grown. I've emailed you the ordering details. Guest guest
Congratulations! I would suggest adding liver detoxifying veggie juice made with kale(25%), rosemary essential oil (1 drop), carrot (25%), celery(25%), and raddish (25%-preferably black). How long have you been smoking?
