Have you tried leaving off the steamed peas to experiment? I believe peas are in the legume family. I had a salad recipe that called for raw string beans. It upset my stomach terribly. Try cooking a bit longer. A natural enzyme you may not have thought to add is Pineapple. If you don't like it in your salad, have it on the side or with a little cottage cheese. Add a small piece of cornbread or steamed rice to your meal to make a complete protein with the peas. . Try drinking Perrier or sparkling mineral water with the meal. A little after dinner mint tea may help. . Hope this works INJ Athena
Guest guest
I eat a spinach salad each night with some herbs on it, steamed peas, oil and garlic--that's it. Every single night I seem to have SERIOUS gas from this. I even take digestive enzymes with it and make sure I chew it thoroughly. Does anyone know what I can do about this? Guest guest
What are you using for fiber? You need fiber to make the elimination system work properly. Gas is a build up of decaying fecal matter that doesn't get eliminated from the bowels. Whole grains such as brown rice, red or black rice, whole wheat, oats etc are excellent sources of fiber. You need at least 3 serving of fiber a day and lots of water to help flush the body of toxins and hydrate. Guest guest
This is common. Reduce your vegetable portion. Try drinking ginger tea to purge out the gas. http://99health.blogspot.com/ , " Marci " <twilli55 wrote: > > I eat a spinach salad each night with some herbs on it, steamed peas, > oil and garlic--that's it. Guest guest
It is common, but is it harmful? The gas is obviously the body coping with excess fibre, but is it necessarily a bad thing? I practically live on homegrowns salads this time of year (we're in summer in the southern hemisphere), but after a few weeks of regular salad eating, the gas seems to calm down... Guest guest
Gas is not harmful as in fumes...but it also is telling you that your bowels aren't functioning up to snuff... fecal matter gets backed up from lack of insoluable and soluable fibre and water, then it sits there and decomposes. The gas is the build up of decomposition in the bowels. Parasites, poor fiber, poor digestive enzymes, poor hydration all can lead to that. Salads, legumes, and whole grains work as fiber. Lots of water helps to hydrate the body and make the waste material more lubricated for elimination. Jenny Kernan --- Andrea Gauland <dreaquince wrote: > It is common, but is it harmful? Try a little echinachea tea on occassion too. Are you drinking lots of water -yes--- --well drink more, no additives, a little achidophollus yogurt on occassion too. Guest guest
Take Bifidus for your colon. Bifidus in a probiotic. It's a bacteria that normally lives in our colon. Nature's Way makes an enteric coated bifidus that will get past the stomach acids. It will really help with your problem. Some fibers can aggravate your colon until you are used to them so if you start a fiber supplement, go slow. However since you are eating this salad every day, you probably don't need any excess fiber.
