Guest guest
Well, I asked this question a few days ago but it never appeared on the list so I'm gonna try again. I've finally decided to give the oil pulling a try but I have one concern. Over the years, due to almost no enamel on my teeth, I've ended up with a mouth full of caps. I have about 10 teeth left in my mouth that are natural, everything else is a cap. Does anyone have any information on whether or not the oil pulling will effect the glue seal for the caps? I realize that the glue is made to withstand saliva and general eating, but will pulling oil through the teeth degrade or loosen the seal? Just a concern before I give it a try. Thanks, Toni'

Guest guest
I don't know. I wouldn't think so as the oils you use are oils that can be used " as is " on salads. And I can imagine that there are many people with caps that eat salads and veggies with these oils. So even though you'd be pulling the oil through the teeth I wouldn't think it would hurt. But it might be a good idea to call your dentist and ask him/her. They should know if the glue will hold up. Guest guest
excellent question and i would like to add to that if i may. what about using peroxide (with peppermint) as a mouthwash and baking soda (also with peppermint) as a toothpaste? my teeth and entire mouth feels so clean and i swear my teeth are whiter than when i had them professionally whitened. will this hurt the crowns in anyway? they can always be cemented back on, i just do not want them to be ruined. thank you and have wonderful day! happy thought of love, peace and light, annie willow Check out the all-new Mail beta - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster. Guest guest
--I've been OP'ing for 1 month now. I would think the Saliva is more harmful than any of the natural oils recommended for OP. I would recommend emailing the contact on the OP web site.- In , " blue_texasgal " <blue_texasgal wrote: > > -Hi Toni, > I am a Dental Assistant so if I know what oil pulling is.....then I > might be able to answer your question. Guest guest
Oil pulling is awesome. I have 7 caps in my mouth and have had no problems with oil pulling, which I have been doing for 6 months now. You might feel sluggish the first week or so from the toxins that leave your body. Remember, don't swallow the oil. Use Sunflower oil as it has no taste like the other oils used. And yes my teeth are amazingly white since i started using it. hope this helps. Guest guest
I've been oil pulling for about 6 months. I have a crown and a new veneer. I use Sunflower Oil and I add 5 drops of Tea Tree Oil and a few times a week 5 drops of Oil of Oregano to the salt water I rinse with. My dentist is thrilled, my gum disease is in remission and my pockets are healing. There is no sign of the oil damaging the cement used for the crown or veneer. I feel better since I started pulling and the days I don't have time I do it I feel a difference. An added bonus my teeth have never been so white! Hope this helps.... , " snydertls2001 " <Snydertls wrote: > Does anyone have any information on whether or not the oil pulling will > effect the glue seal for the caps? Guest guest
Oil Pulling has been discussed many many times on this group and I'm not nearly as eloquent as many here, so I guess the easiest way to explaiin oil pulling is simply to ask you to check out the main oil pulling webpage It explains it much better than I could. Also, if you pull up Google and just do a search on " oil pulling " you will find bunches and bunches of hits. Take a look...please. I would certainly like to know what a Dental Assistant would think of this therapy. Thanks in advance, Toni' , " blue_texasgal " <blue_texasgal wrote: > > -Hi Toni, > I am a Dental Assistant so if I know what oil pulling is.....then I > might be able to answer your question. Guest guest
Toni, Wow that is fascinating. And it is so simple! You would not think that the one act of swishing would prove to be so beneficial. I would go for it, after all the human mouth does contain a lot of bacteria, I wonder if it has been proven to help gum disease?? Thanks for sharing, Lynn snydertls2001 <Snydertls wrote: Oil Pulling has been discussed many many times on this group and I'm not nearly as eloquent as many here, so I guess the easiest way to explaiin oil pulling is simply to ask you to check out the main oil pulling webpage It explains it much better than I could. Guest guest
I live on a small island and have to order most things... I do have coconut oil (organic, extra virgin), and oregano oil, though... and would like to try that until I receive the sunflower oil and tea tree oil. Any comments? Guest guest
No, the porcelain caps will not change color. At least mine haven't. Guest guest
Hi Ingrid I'm no expert in oil pulling I just do what works for me. That said there are some people that have stated any oil will work, others say only Sunflower or Sesame. I use Sunflower because it's a lighter taste and seems to keep my teeth whiter than other oils I've tried but I don't see any reason not to try the Coconut oil. Because of my gum disease I started using Tea Tree everyday with the salt water rinse but Oregano I only use twice a week having read to use it sparingly. If I didn't have gum disease I'd rinse with just the salt water. For more information and certainly more expert advice than I can give visit the oil pulling site - www.oilpulling.com Hope this info helps! , Ingrid <molokai_duo wrote: > > I live on a small island and have to order most > things... > I do have coconut oil (organic, extra virgin), and > oregano oil, though... and would like to try that > until I receive the sunflower oil and tea tree oil. > Any comments? > Ingrid
Guest guest
you mention teeth getting whiter with oil pulling. My teeth have been colored by the tetracyclin (sp?) antibiotic I took when my teeth were growing. Does anyone know of a method to get them whiter? Guest Katydid
Try organic raw virgin coconut oil. I have been OP for 1 week and very dark brown/black stains that were between my lower front teeth from coffee and tea have virtually disappeared! I can hardly believe it but op really works. I don't know if it will help the tetracycline staining but it can't hurt.
