Guest guest
Hi everyone, Does anyone know of a natural tick repellant? I'm working on my land and this weekend got several ticks. After my boss got ill from a tick bite, I want to be careful. However, I refuse to put the chemicals, like DEET, on my body. I use natural insect repellant, but not sure if it will be strong enough. I normally still have some insects get on me with it, just not enough to worry about. Thanks, Lai

Guest guest
Hello, Actually, I do know of a good tick repellent... I use essential oils on my dogs and they have not had ticks in over 3 years. (Thank God and knock on wood.) I use an oil called purification and Thieves mixed together in a water bottle and spray it on them. The Purification I use directly between their shoulder blades like the " commercial chemical brand Front line does. " A friend of mine who also sells the oils (I'm a distributor for this company, but do not promote it as a business, I use the oils for myself and family/friends).... Anyway, she said if you wanted to spray your yard, you'd have to put several drops in one of those sprayers and then add water, then spray the yard. If you just want it for yourself, you can spray it on yourself, to repel the ticks. It also repells mosquitos and other insects... My husband was bitten by something not long ago and got a big welt that itches like crazy (he got the bite at work). He came home and asked me if I had anything that would work to stop the itching or stinging... SO I put the Purification on him " neat " (not mixed with anything else and within a few minutes the bite stopped itching, burning and the welt started to disappear. He was fine the next day. We don't know what bit him, but whatever it was, the oil helped very quickly. If you need more info on this or essential oils, please feel free to contact me off group, or however you feel comfortable. Guest guest
I use Avon's skin so soft repellent (not the hand lotion). It is really mild and does not contain hazardous chemicals so its safe to use on children and even pets. Where I live in Alaska, we have wicked mosquitos and we have these little flies we call " white socks " and they BITE like crazy. So when we don't have our bug jackets on we all wear the Avon stuff. My little boy was 2 when we moved here and couldn't stand having the bug jacket on over his head so the local clinic suggested it and it worked. I also put it on my dogs tummies and it keeps them from being bitten up. lai_pantha <lai_pantha Monday, March 5, 2007 7:00:41 AM Tick Repellant Hi everyone, Does anyone know of a natural tick repellant?
