Guest guest
Hi Ashu, My heart goes out to you and your family. How's the little one doing? Have you found some help yet? I cannot imagine how you must feel...i am also really concerned about what's going on with the baby. Both my sons have Thalassemia Minor. I was told when the older was born that he were to take all kinds of iron supplements but this could have done much harm to him if the doctor would have continued to pump him with iron drops when he was a newborn. A few days later, a new doctor took over to care for him and told me he cannot take such vitamins. The only way he would be able to build his blood would be by eating foods rich in iron. The first doctor was trying to reach a level of normal since he was anemic. He will always be anemic. This is what Thalassemia does...it originates from poverty countries from what i was told. Their father is Italian (full blooded). Little did my husband know he has it too along with his other 3 brothers. If he would have married a woman that also had Thalassemia, their children would have major Thalassemian like your son. I have not read all my mail yet so i don't know if someone is helping you. I pray you have gotten some since i last read your message. If there's anything i can do to help, please let me know. I realize how serious this is. I could try to contact a doctor if you'd like. Blessing, Carol I'll be praying for your son. Please keep in touch as i am really concerned for your son. I am so sorry your son is so ill. ----Original Message Follows---- " mobile_20 " <mobile_20 Thalassemia - Please Help Me Wed, 25 Apr 2007 07:56:32 -0000 Hello everybody my son 1 yr 8 month is suffering from Thalassemia - Major. is there any treatment of this disease in alternative medicines. me and my wife also thalassemia - minor patient. please reply as soon as possible. we are not a rich family. please reply soon. it is urgent. Guest guest
Hi Ashu, I am from U.S., State of Maine. I am grateful that the doctor's are giving him new blood. It seems that this is probably the only solution for today anyways. I have worried for a long time my son's having Thalasemia, although trying to understand it certainly does help. Both sons do know that if they were to marry a woman with the same blood disorder it would be a critical situation. My mother-in-law still thinks i am full of it when i speak of Thalasemia and what i was told. She doesn't seem to want to accept the fact that she or her husband carried this disease. Yes, the doctor i spoke of who had pumped my baby up with iron when he was new born could have killed him. Amazing, when this other doctor found out about the situation, she immediately took it into her hands to get him off the iron drops and whatever else the doctor was doing to build his blood up. Our sons will always be anemic no matter how much iron they have....is this correct? My prayers are with you, your wife and your baby. Please stay in touch if you don't mind. I am so grateful that there's some help for your son even if it has to be this way for the rest of his life. It's possible something may change in the future to help with this disease other than what they have to do for today. It's a miracle we have something ! Take good care. You're all in my prayers...
