Guest guest
Hello everyone. For the past few months, my periods have started every 18-20 days... They last at least 7 days and the first 2-3 days the flow is so heavy (fill a tampon in an hour). I do not have any cramping. I have been on T3/T4 compounded capsuale (30mg) daily for my thyroid (under active) for over a year. I exercise at least 5 days a week rotating cardio/weights. I am 34yrs old and am very fit. I drink a protein shake every morning. I take Vitamin c (1,000mg), Folic Acid (800mcg), Omega 3 fish oil cap (1000mg) and a daily low-dose aspirin daily. My energy level is so low that I went and visited my endocrinologist and she prescribed an additional 15mg of the t3/t4 to take in the afternoon. I am not one to take a lot of pills that are prescribed by a doctor when I never had this problem before.... So, with my periods every two weeks or so, my endocrinologist also put me on a compounded progesterone cream to use 10 days out of the month... She is hoping this helps on the duration of my periods... Between these long periods and the tiredness, can anyone suggest anything?? I am starting to feel like there is a correlation btwn the two challenges that I am currently facing. Thank you in Advance.
Guest guest
It sounds like you might be anemic from losing so much blood. If so, you probably need more iron. Eat meat and/or take an organic iron supplement. I would recommend seeing a naturopath or homeopath who can advise you about the nutrition you need and help sort out the hormones/periods issue. Also I'd stop the aspirin. Aspirin causes bleeding and you are already bleeding too much. Guest guest
Make sure you take plenty of ion --and vit c eat spinach, strawberrys etc and black molasses---you may be in the first stages of menopause -i am in my 50's and been going thru it for over 5 yrs------- I have 2 girlfriends that went thru it at your age-expect your periods to come and go- be regular and then irregular -2 per month and none for months-your doc can order a blood test and that may give you some indication -there are alot of other things you can take but you need to know for sure it is menopause but the ion and vit c will help with the tiredness LR <alagonza2000 wrote: Hello everyone. Guest guest
Could it be part of menopause.......how old are you? I have that same problem and think it is menopause starting. Guest guest
I would drink lots of Yerba Mate tea for energy with a pinch of sarsaparilla tea to balance hormones. chasteberry caps may help also with the hormones. I think this a hormonal issue. Progesterone cream will probably help. Peace, thyme ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Poor thyroid function is common in perimenopause when ALL of your hormones begin to fluctuate wildly. 34 is a bit young, but I do have some women in my groups your age. Heavy bleeding is due to estrogen dominance and the resulting conditions like uterine fibroids, endometriosis, etc. It sounds like you're using some good products and have compounded hormones, which is a good approach. Be sure to avoid soy products, too much boron, too much vitamin e etc. These elevate estrogen levels. For more energy, consider using blue green algae. It's pure protein and will boost your energy and so much more. Hope this helps some, Michelle http://www.HolisticMenopause.com
Guest guest
I was 37 when I started the change and had it over and done with by 42. Imbalances in the body can cause premature menopause. Thyroid is a biggie. Adrenal exhaustion and even parasites can cause imbalances. Soy is not good if you have thryoid as it creates a malabsorption issue. Your physicial can do blood tests to tell you where your hormones are and if your ovaries are functioning. I wouldn't count on blood tests for thyroid to be accurate. Saliva test for both thyroid and hormones is most accurate. Doinig a 30 day parasite cleanse that includes fiber supplement containing soluable and insoluable fiber, and a cleansing tea will be very beneficial. Follow that with a liver cleanse. Quantum Biofeedback helps with stressors in the body that create imbalance. Guest guest
For many many years I suffered from the same problems like you. It all ended when I heard and tried a herbal remedy. It is a plant whose name I don't know in English but I can tell you the Latin name. It is Alchemilla vulgaris. It is miraculous for the heavy bleeding. When the period starts take about 4 to 6 teaspoons daily of finely ground dried plant. Put the powder in your mouth and drink water to swallow it. As I found it difficult to take a whole teaspoon at one time, I used to take less than half a teaspoon every 2 hours. This remedy worked miracles for me (when nothing else helped) and for every one who tried it. I hope you will try it and it will help you as well. Guest guest
Hi Lucia and all, That's Lady's Mantle. As with any herb, be sure to check for contraindications if you're using medications. Herbs don't work for everyone and sometimes the results are slow. And, again, using Lady's Mantle to stop bleeding is addressing the symptom, not the cause. If you're using herbs, try Chasteberry or Vitex to balance hormones rather than addressing the (symptom) heavy bleeding. Just a suggestion from a holistic viewpoint. Here's a bit of info on Lady's Mantle~ It is an astringent herb used for diarrhea and bleeding disorders. Lady's mantle is indicated in atonic conditions such as uterine or bladder atony or prolapse, vaginal laxity and passive hemorrhage and menorrhagia. It is also used with dysmenorrhea due to atony, and habitual miscarriages due to incompetent cervix.
