Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, I understand your concern for your cousin - my sister has had glandular fever three times, twice when she was young and again just the first of this year. It took quite a toll on her health years ago and now she's 60, and, fortunately is recovering quite well. Following are web sites for information and recommendations for herbs, vitamins and minerals. Be sure to suggest to your cousin that she take lots of B vitamins, especially B-12, maybe even get a B-12 shot. It will give her more energy to think her way out of this energy-zapping disease and improve her appetite so that she can consume the proper nutrients. There are a number of good antiviral and immune-stimulant herbs suggested in these sites. Wishing your cousin a speedy recovery, Sheila Here's a web page that'll tell you more than you ever wanted to know about glandular fever (mononucleosis): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glandular_fever This one's a good source of information for antivirals and immune system stimulants: http://www.herbnet.com/ask%20the%20herbalist/asktheherbalist_questions%20on%20Mo\ nonucleosis.htm This web site is my favorite source for general information about herbs and supplements, as well as specific ailments: http://www.herbs2000.com/kids/mononucleosis.htm This looks like some good info, too. I copied a sample of the information into the message for you. http://au.health./041101/25/1ua0.html Vits/mins/herbs (Glandular Fever) Nutritional supplements are only to be used if the dietary vitamin intake is inadequate. - Folic acid may be helpful for people with Glandular Fever. Low levels of this nutrient have been found in significant numbers of people with Glandular Fever. - Vitamin C and zinc help to boost the body's immune system which may be helpful in cases of Glandular Fever. - Bioflavonoids derived from citrus fruits are nutrients which help to improve the action of vitamin C and help to inhibit the Glandular Fever virus. - Vitamin A is a useful vitamin in cases, such as Glandular Fever, where the immune system may need support. - Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea and Echinacea angustifolia) is a herb with properties which help to enhance the immune function of the body, with particular benefit in cases of viral infection. - Herbs such as Garlic, Ginger and liquorice root contain potent antioxidant compounds that show an antiviral activity and provide significant protection against infection. - Astragalus is a herb with a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine. Recent research has confirmed the immune boosting properties of Astragalus which may be beneficial in cases of Glandular Fever. _____ , cheryl bullock <cooee.shari wrote: > > My cousin lives along way from me and recently found out that she has had glandular fever-she gave up her teaching job to recover but needs to work as she is on her own, she e mailed me and said she was going for a job interview but doesn't know how she can hold down her job as she is extremely tired-anyone if any advice would be appreciated ------ thankyou. ______________________________\ ____ It's here!
