Dear Erin,

If you are interested in also learning while you are working, then I'd

suggest you check out Esalen in Big Sur, California.

A Christian camp can be very reasonable. There also used to be a very

inexpensive yoga retreat in Virginia Beach. I heard it was pretty rustic,

dorm rooms, etc. Another possibility is in Mexico. Resorts there can be

more reasonable.

Some of the famous human portential movement resorts are Esalen, Heartwood,

Omega, Kripalu. There are more. I don't know how reasonable they are, but

they might have work-study accomodations. There's also the Transcendental

Meditation headquarters in Iowa, the Americana Leadership College in

Osceola, Iowa and New Braunfels, TX. Iowa appears to have some sort of

spiritual vortex, or at least that is what I have heard. Osceola's a

working farm.

You also might try some of the National Parks. They have a program where

you can work for the season and stay in dormers.

Hello Erin,

Kripalu, Omega Institute, Vipassana Centers (Goenka), and the Insight

Meditation Center in Barrie, Massachusetts all have some kind of work

exchange programs and are in very pretty places.
