Hydrogen peroxide is an excellent dentrifice for helping to whiten teeth and for killing off the bacteria that cause oral problems. However, hydrogen peroxide is a very strong oxidizing agent even at 3%. Therefore, you should always dilute it 50 - 50 with distilled water and if that still causes problems then dilute it even more down to .3 percent or less.

Jeannie.. what did you clean it with? your tongue... sometimes if peroxide is used too strong it can really iritate. a friend who is a pharmacist who believes in a lot of naturopathic practices says 3% HP should be cut by 50%. half water, half hp else it can be detrimental.
