Guest guest
there are a number of easy stretching exercises that can be done to help alleviate them. the type that seems to put you in a mild traction where the vertebrae are eased apart to take the pressure off of the nerves. that is what i did to ease and seemingly almost cure a herneated 4-5 lumbar disk. surgery had been recommended, but i opted to try to help myself and so far, so good. also hot showers and comfrey/ginger tincture massaged to area.love... granny lee - wildrosez77 herbal remedies Saturday, November 01, 2003 10:26 PM [herbal remedies] Nerve Damage Repair/Relief Several years ago I ruptured a disk on both sides. It healed and encapsulated. Now it is causing pins and neddle pain, then numbness radiating down the outside of my thigh on the left side, and down sides of pelvic to back of my lower hips, at various times due to the pressure of compressed nerves. This is relieved by getting off my feet. All of the above was confirmed by an MRI. The doctor told me the only option I had was pain killers, that it wasn't bad enough yet for surgery, which was extremely risky and to be avoided until it became unbearable. I said no to the pain killers. He said I would eventually have to have them. When asked if there was any thing else I could try, he said nothing. I have tried DSMO gel on the area and got some relief. Is there anything I could do to improve my situation? Any suggestions? ThanksFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
one more story for back relief.... my supervisor on the job from which i retired was having so much back trouble.. pain... he could hardly drive nor walk and he had to do both in his work as head engineer of his area. one day he came in looking really traumatized. I had mentioned to him several months earlier the back roll that i had used in past years to relieve my back problems which kept it under control or years.. I have always done a lot of gardening and hours of bending over... but he just didn't seem to have time and probably was worried that it would make him worse. he announced that he had been to the Dr and they were going to schedule him or surgery.. i was horrified and suggested that if it were me, i would get a second opinion. said he had to as his ins co required it. the next week he came in smiling.. the new dr told him to do the exercise i had described to him and he probably wouldn't need an operation. he finally, having heard it from the horses mouth so to speak, tried it and last i heard, he was doing well. since he is on the road a lot and doing a lot of heavy trouble shooting, there were times when he would strain himself and if he were lax on the exercises, would have a flare-up-up, but largely it phased his problem out. i teased him about not listening to me.. i didn't charge him for the info and the Dr billed him $90.00... l don't you hate 'i told you so' people??? heheheheh!! love... granny lee. - windflower song herbal remedies Sunday, November 02, 2003 3:36 AM Re: [herbal remedies] Nerve Damage Repair/Relief I agree with granny lee here. I did have surgery for this 24 years ago, and still have back and sciatica pain. I was at the playground with my granddaughters, and grabbed onto the monkey bars, and just let my feet off the ground, so I was just "hanging" there, and my body weight used as traction, while my girls giggled and climbed all over everything. Now every time it acts up, I round up my girls, and off we go to the playground in the park. ....windflowerleo wrote: there are a number of easy stretching exercises that can be done to help alleviate them. the type that seems to put you in a mild traction where the vertebrae are eased apart to take the pressure off of the nerves. that is what i did to ease and seemingly almost cure a herneated 4-5 lumbar disk. surgery had been recommended, but i opted to try to help myself and so far, so good. also hot showers and comfrey/ginger tincture massaged to area.love... granny lee - wildrosez77 herbal remedies Saturday, November 01, 2003 10:26 PM [herbal remedies] Nerve Damage Repair/Relief Several years ago I ruptured a disk on both sides. Guest guest
I have a similar issue, where the problem was not severe enough to " fix " it, but I have had pain for over 10 years now, with the numb feet etc. Here is what is working for me (finally!): - Traction - wish I'd thought of trying the monkey bars, I bought an inversion table instead :-) But it works wonders for taking the pressure off of my lower back. - Wrapping my lower back in the Bone/Lig/cartilage wrap found in the files here (soaking wool or cotton cloth in the solution, put it in the affected area, wrap plastic all around me to hold it on and keep from dripping down my rear.) - The nerve tincture and nerve tea that are in the files here - I use them both and over the last year have noticed a major change in the lessening of the numbness of my feet. - Losing weight to take the pressure off of my back - I was over 100 pounds overweight. Losing that 100 pounds did not remove the pain (as several doctors said it would) but it did contribute to my increased mobility, therefore I could stretch and exercise more effectively which helped reduce the problem. I hope these ideas are of use to you. When you find something that works for you, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
