Guest guest
Hi all, My husband was diagnosed by a dispensing herbalist with candidiasis (sp) or yeast overgrowth. He was diagnosed because of various itches he has plus a large underarm rash he has had for over a year, and one possible cause given is that he has been on pain killers now for 20 years. ( We did get the guy to make up the nerve sedative formula w/out the Lobelia but that's another story). The herbalist said this yeast overgrowth has led to Leaky Gut Syndrome. He said my husband has a malabsorption problem and nutrients he eats are not being assimilated. He tested him with a zinc drink and said he is definitely zinc deficient as well. Treatment from the herbalist is:- 1. herbal mix of fluid extracts of Golden Seal, Horopito, Aniseed, Myrrh and Albizzia. Also a gut repair powder mainly consisting of Slippery Elm. He prescribed him one bottle of zinc drink. He also prescribed probiotics, and zinc cream for his rashes. Along with that a complex multi vitamin and mineral supplement especially the B group. The herbalist's advice was a low carb and high protein diet and to cut out all products containing any sugars. As we are vegan we really don't do high protein, so I am looking at lowering carbs and have removed all bread etc but my husband is 6'1 " , thin, and HUNGRY all the time. I have been making raw salads every day, steamed veg, all sorts green, orange, potatoes etc. He eats nuts, wholemeal crispbread, apples, bananas, hummus, plus meals like lentil stew. All he ever says is 'what can I eat?' I am struggling to feed him and also to pack his lunches. Organic veg is so expensive here we can really only afford to eat it for one meal. Since seeing the herbalist I have looked into this condition and I have made some more changes for him, stopped all coffee and tea, stopped all products containing yeast i.e. bread, and also yeast extracts here such as 'Vegemite'. I have been giving him extra flaxseed oil, plus 3 caps of Evening Primrose Oil per day, and I also added Caprylic Acid caps. I read all this from my herbal books and the main one I am following is Kitty Campion's as in her book she says lots of stuff exactly as is on this list and she also uses a lot of Dr. Christophers formulas. He already has raw organic garlic daily but I am trying to increase that. I also make him one cup a day of Dandelion root 'coffee' if hw wants it. There is a slight possibility I can get him to do the juice cleanse, but we will not be doing the other cleanses due to the unavailability of most of the herbs here, and the huge expense of converting to our dollars including the postage and the import risks., where we may never receive anything. My questions are all related to diet, so if anyone can help I would be happy to hear from you. Looking at various books and web pages I have found so much conflicting information, so I am trying to find out which is correct, here are some things I have read. Do not eat any products containing yeast You can eat products containing 'other' yeasts Eat all fruits except grapes, melon and bananas. You can eat bananas don't eat tomatoes You can eat tomatoes Don't eat oranges Don't eat any fruit Don't drink any fruit juice concentrate Don't drink any fruit juice Drink fruit juice No nuts Nuts but no peanuts Nuts but no peanuts or cashews Beans but no chick peas (garbanzos) Nothing with refined white flour Potatoes only if they are baked No carrots or sweet potatoes, they are too sweet. No dried fruit Potatoes only if they are not peeled No brown rice No mushrooms Nothing fermented i.e. soy sauce, tamari No vinegars except ACV Help! thanks a lot Persian
