Guest guest
A great way to get the nutrition that onions offer is of course to eat more of them, But, then there is the time comsuming labor of peeling and slicing them, not to mention the tears in the eyes. I have foud that onions about the size of a tennis ball are perfect for useing an " apple-corer " on. The type of kitchen tool I am talking about is a round plastic thingee with handles. Inside the center is an opening about 3 to 4 inches wide. Inside this circle are blades laid out in a star pattern with a 1 inch round blade in the center which takes the core out of the apple while slicing it into eight pieces. I cut the roots and top off the onions and then with the root end down I press the apple tool on the top and work it all the way to the cutting board until there are eight wedge slices plus a round onion core. The skin layer pops right off each wedge and eureka, you are ready to cook. Its a big time and labor saver. Mike;-)
