I think the total cleanse is the right start, along with Total Nutrition .. and alot of raw veggies and fruits, sprouted grains.. this should get you going again.

Hi y'all,Got a hypothesis, let me know what you think. As some of you know, I have a hypothyroid. This is one of those things I NEVER thought would happen to me, since I've always had high metabolism, almost always had a slender frame, and I'm constantly eating. A slow thyroid is the LAST thing I ever thought I'd encounter. After my naturopath told me that there are PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) compounds in the feed of farm-raised fish (which I consumed regularly until I heard this) and they're carcinogenic,

Jen,

get yourself some Total nutrition... and you can always do a total organic juice diet for a week and see how that helps you.. (It will)... until you can do a total cleanse.

Hey i have to agree! I'm on day 18 of the whole program and i feel

better today (and mind you i have had nothing solid to eat since

Friday) than i have in so many years. I too thought i was

invinceable when i was a tiny size 5, but the reality is, toxic

living finally cought up with me whether it was my fault or not.

I feel like a pyscho cheerleader for the cleanse right now, but hey

who can argue with the results????

Awesome, Kel! :) Thanks for your feedback!

Hehe I actually emailed my local Whole Foods Market about the farm-

raised fish and it bounced between several different people at the

company; I'm assuming they were looking into the issue.

My msg was as follows:

To Whom it may concern:

A few days later, I received this:

Jeni,

I am forwarding a response back to you from our regional co-ordinator

regarding the salmon supplier you mentioned. This market's farm raised

is coming from Norway, farm raised in pens in fjords (open water bays

in

the Atlantic), less than half the density of fish vs other farm raised

producers, no synthetic feed use, steroids, anti-biotics or any other

chemically inhanced items. The issue with pcb occurs when their is

poor

water flow, high density of fish per pen and synthetic feed. The

organic

matter builds up which converts to a toxin called pcb which then the

fish take back into there bodies. The norwegian we sell is the

cleanest

fish available on the market . Nobody can claim that their farm raised

is totally pcb free and if they do, that should raise a red flag. Only

salmon that is pcb free is wild which we carry two types. Alaskan coho

at 9.99 lb and Wild King at 11.99 lb. Hope this answers most of your

questions and don't hesitate to give me a call if I can help in any

other way. Thanks and have a great day.

And here was the message he forwarded from another honcho at Whole

Foods:

This is a very small company out of the Pacific Northwest who

supplies

some of

the Northern California Whole Foods with some very expensive farmed

salmon

Very Similar to our Norwegian program, but honestly the Norwegian is

a

better

program, strictly controlled water conditions regulated by the

government of

Norway, anti -biotic free and considered organic in the European

Union.

No

farmed salmon is " PCB Free " . Hope this helps..

I'm really glad I have access to wild salmon! lol :)

Just thought I'd share. What, if anything, do y'all make of this?

Just brainfarting,

There was an article recently regarding farm raised salmon that both

Doc and I independently posted to this group. You might want to

search the archives for it if you missed it.

contributing factor, other than the fact that I had been truly eating

the STANDARD AMERICAN DIET for 40 years! Maybe a little better than

average - more veggies (because I love them!) and very little fast

food, but still all the naughties. I also loved a bit of steak

occassionally and never ate seafood at all.

breakfast and lunch being all raw. I do have something cooked with

dinner - either veggies or some meat and it's usually fish, some

shrimp or crab, or organic chicken. My thyroid, and all hormone

levels, remain perfectly normal!
