Guest guest
-- If you soak 2 cups of grains in water and 2 Tablespoons of whey-- that shouldn't be a problem. It's not whey protein powder-- it's the real stuff. And since entire cultures have soaked their grains in this way, without necessarily sprouting them first, then it sounds good to me. I realize that reasearch studies can point one way or another. I guess what i'm trying to say is that the evidence that the price- pottenger foundation has gathered (over 80 years and mostly studying what extremely healthy cultures did in comparison to their similar but sicker counterparts) is pretty compelling. If entire villages drank milk and lived free of disease, that sounds good to me! And these traditional cultures were extremely healthy. I have read a lot on the Notmilk.com place. Besides having a bad attitude, most of his 'information' is based on studies ivolving a few people. Not entire cultures. And he is also focusing on commercial, pasteurized, homogenized junk milk. Not raw grass fed good milk. here is a link to a letter to Mr. Cohen-- the 'Not Milk man' http://www.westonaprice.org/soy/notmilk.html Here is a link discussing the benefits of good raw milk http://www.realmilk.com/milkcure.html And of course-- before you go vegan/vegetarian, or if you already are, please read Weston A Price's book-- Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. Or Sally Fallon's Nourishing Traditions. Let's look at more than one side before coming to a conclusion. Guest guest
What you say may very well be the case. The original Barley Formula is well over 2,000 years old, and was popular during Roman times. As I said earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if cooking it for that length of time would actually destroy the enzyme inhibitors, or at the very least, render them inoperative. This would be worth an experiment with other grains as well. I've never known of a negative effect whatsoever from doing the formula exactly the way it is laid down usning unsprouted barley. This formula makes "Happy" babies. Period. ;o) Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington - hope herbal remedies Saturday, February 07, 2004 3:09 AM Herbal Remedies - sally fallon Re: Barley Formula -just to clarify-- its about the time grains are soaked before cooking, esp with a bit of raw whey added. /this is what extremely healthy cultures have done since the beginning of time.hope
