Today's Helpful Hint: When dealing with a potentially intense emotional issue, try "sneaking up on it." By this I mean start with very global approaches to the problem and gradually get more specific. At first try something like, "Even though I have a problem....". Then, as the client shows evidence of relaxation, try something a little more on point like,"Even though I had an accident 12 years ago.....".Eventually, you can get very specific and can usually collapse the issue with minimal emotional pain.

Lessons from our DVDs
