1 small ripe banana1 cup unsweetened applesauce2 cups Cream of Wheat farina2 1/2 cups water1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)

Boil water in a medium-size pot. Stir in the farina. Cook until the cereal is thick (about 5 minutes). Remove from the heat and let cool for 15 minutes. Put cereal, banana, applesauce and sugar into a blender. Blend until smooth. If the cereal is not cool enough, let cool. Add cereal to a bowl.

Blueberry Pork Roast

For 12 months and older.

Ingredients

1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen

1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce

1 pork sirloin roast

1 tsp. cinnamon

Method

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

With sharp knife, slice 2 inch grooves, 2 inches apart, into top of pork.*Make sure you cut along the same direction as the muscle striations.

Stuff blueberries into grooves and top with applesauce (See fig. 1).

Use toothpicks to close up grooves as best as possible (See fig. 2).

Spread remaining applesauce all over top of pork, sprinkle with cinnamon.

Place pork in shallow casserole dish, stick in meat thermometer.

Cook until thermometer reads 165 degrees F (about 40-45 minutes per pound)

Cut into very small pieces for infants (it can be hard to chew without molars). Adults may want to add salt.

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour1/2 cup instant non-fat dry milk powder1/2 cup wheat germ1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon cinnamon1/2 teaspoon salt3/4 cup granulated sugar3/4 cup vegetable oil1 egg1/2 cup undiluted, frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed

Combine flour, milk powder, wheat germ, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together.

In another bowl, combine sugar and oil. Beat in the egg and orange juice and gradually add flour mixture to make a stiff dough. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.

Place greased cookie sheet on damp towel to keep from sliding. Place dough on cookie sheet and flatten, rolling out to within 1 inch of the edge. Cut into 2 x 3/4-inch bars; separating the cookies isn't necessary. Bake 15 minutes in preheated 375 degree F oven until light brown.

Remove from oven; re-cut on the same lines. Return to oven. Turn off heat and let set until oven is cool.

Makes about 6 dozen cookies that can be frozen and thawed as needed.
