Guest guest
The Ultimate Gatorade by Roger Haeske http://www.supertennis.net Do you want to drink something during a hot tennis match that will cool you down, give you energy and balance your electrolyte levels? I have the ultimate solution. Let me give you a little background on how I came up with these ideas. I have always been very much into health and nutrition. I read my first book on nutrition as a teenager. Since that time I've read over 50 books on the subject and tried many different diets to optimize my health and energy levels. Four years ago I first read the book "Fit For Life." That book immediately improved my state of health. Eventually I got really deep into the principles of Natural Hygiene. This is a dietary system that basically recommends a vegetarian diet of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. While on the diet I was consuming a tremendous amount of oranges. It was also the middle of winter. Eventually it got to the point that one bite of an orange that was room temperature sent chills down my spine. Eating oranges literally made me colder. At New Years I went out to a friends place in the Catskills in PA. It was much colder than around here. I found that I just could not take the cold. My two other friends had way more tolerance for the cold weather than I did. Eventually in my readings I discovered that oranges, grapefruit and other citrus fruits were cooling foods. They actually function to make it easier for one to handle hot weather. Since the time I have incorporated more fruit in my diet I have always felt much cooler during the summer than most people. Citrus Fruit magnifies this effect even more. Everyone is always complaining how hot it is. Nowadays I barely even sweat on the tennis court. This is all diet related. My body has changed. (In the winter time I am all right now because I don't really eat any citrus fruit.) What you can do is to make sure to eat either grapefruit or oranges between games. Or you can blend whole oranges and drink them. You can get some healthy sodium into your blended sports drink by blending in a stalk of celery. Just add water if you want it more liquidly. Here's another quick story. A researcher wanted to test the effect of eating grapefruit while working on an avocado farm. This was in a hot area of California with temperatures of 100 degrees plus. The average worker there was not able to work very long before having to take a break. The heat was just overwhelming. The researcher decided to work on this farm. He brought with him a bag of grapefruit. Whenever he got too hot, he'd just eat another grapefruit. The end results of his experiment are that he was able to work continuously all day and pick double the amount of fruit the other workers did. All I can say is that you have to try it yourself.
