Guest guest
Relief for Endometriosis Endometriosis, a condition where tissue resembling the lining of the uterusis found in the abdomen, is marked by severe pain, most often in the form ofmenstrual cramps. Its exact cause is not yet known, but it does have astrong inflammatory component and, like the lining in the uterus, isinfluenced by estrogen. A number of dietary measures can help relievesymptoms by reducing inflammation and lowering the amount of estrogen inyour system. Try the following if you have been diagnosed withendometriosis: Eliminate polyunsaturated vegetable oils (corn, safflower, sunflower) andsources of trans-fatty acids such as margarine and partially hydrogenatedvegetable oils. Add sources of omega-3 fatty acids such as wild Alaskan salmon, sardines orother oily fish, or freshly ground flaxseeds. Avoid foods (including dairy products) from commercially raised animals;their feed may contain hormones. Instead, look for hormone-free foods. Emphasize soy foods such as tofu, tempeh and soy milk, which are rich inplant estrogens and seem to block more harmful forms of estrogen. Limit alcohol intake, since alcohol boosts estrogen production. Increase your fiber intake to help flush out excess estrogen.
