I came down with a virus during our celebration weekend, so I was resting up an extra day. Today I have a neat selection of tips and recipes: WORD OF CAUTION Just a word of caution on using the " waitress " method of salt and ice. I, too, waitressed and decided to try it on my husband's insulated coffee carafe. Within seconds of swirling, the inside (glass portion) of the thermos exploded into tiny pieces. Thankfully, I escaped unharmed. I'm thinking that the ice and salt brought the temperature TOO far down, causing it to break. It certainly scared me and I didn't want it happening to anyone else. ~Christina A LOW SODIUM RECIPE Dutch-Style Beef with Cabbage http://www.lowsodiumcooking.com 1 1/2 pound beef round steak 1 Tbsp. LIZZY'S STAIN & ODOR TIPS Here's a recipe for a natural mixture for cleaning nasty food odours from hands (garlic, onion, fish etc) and keep your hands soft at the same time. In a non metal bowl mix 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup of salt and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Combine well and rub a couple of teaspoons into your hands. Massage in for about a minute. Rinse off with warm water and dry on a clean towel. Keep the remainder in a sealable jar for up to 2 months. The oil moisturizes the hands, the salt is a natural exfoliate and the lemon removes the odours. To remove coffee or tea stains from crockery: wet the stained item with white vinegar then sprinkle on bi carb soda and let it fizz. Once the fizzing stops rub with a heavy duty kitchen towel and rinse with water. Repeat for heavy stains. ~Lizzy More: Tips on removing rust, hard water and tar stains--- http://www.oldfashionedliving.com/stains2.html - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - T O D A Y ' S F E A T U R E D L I N K - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Collectibles Today FREE Gifts with Purchase plus specials going on currently.
