Aloha Anj,

Your muscles needs to repair by not doing much. Wow by reading this, I feel your

pain.

I use a product called Bio Freeze for my back, hip, knee and neck pains. I'm

being attacked by arth. and nerve problems. It is a rub on jell or a roll on. I

purchased some from my massage lady and to my surprise I found some at my Foot

Doctor.

Take care of that knee and try to stay off of it.

stairs and am undergoing medical treatment for the injury but was wondering if

anyone here may have any alternatives to the pain medications that were

prescribed for pain. I am using ice therapy for the swelling and it does

alleviate some of the pain but I still have enough pain to put me into tears at

times. I can weight bear and am still walking with the aide of crutches. I have

been using tiger balm for the muscle aches as well and have no luck.

know that I do so at my own risk and ask here knowing that some of you may have

had the same experiences. I don't wish to rely on the pain pills as I am an

active, well not so much lately, mom of 2 daughters (one teen and one preteen).

I have a full schedule and need to keep my wits about me.

Aloha Lady Ckrystal Hawk!

Thank you! I have a small supply of Bio Freeze already. My boyfriend and I use that for our backs. On top of the knee injury I have Fibromyalgia and Degenerative Disk Disease in my back. Lucky me! Laughs! I am staying off my leg as much as possible and do feel pretty lazy in doing so but can't help that. I have to heal. I did go for the MRI today and according to the radiologist who was there, it looks like I may have torn a lot more than originally feared. I am listening to the doctors and doing as they say with the restrictions placed no matter how unhappy I am about the situation. Hopefully I will know more from the specialist soon as the radiologist wouldn't get into too many details with me.

Thanks again for the advise! Most appreciate it!

Aloha Anj,

I also remember when I went for my physical therapy, my therapist said, if you

swell use cold, if not use something hot.

You poor thing. I can relate with your pains. I have been living with my pains

for over 20 years. I use a back brace, hip brace and knee brace at times to help

me get around.

You do need to heal. Just think, once it's over things will be better.

Hello again!

My knee is still swollen so I don't want to start any heat therapy yet. My physical therapy is actually for my left shoulder as I was in a car accident last month and was in process of healing from that when I fell. I am already tolerant to most of the pain due to having the Fibromyalgia and DDS since 2000. Thankfully, I am not at the point where I need a brace on a permanent basis, well, I should wait before saying that. Laughs! I still have to wait for the results from the MRI here. I am taking it easy here. I don't like doing so little around the house and the poor house isn't used to being neglected like it has been this last week. But, I and the house shall survive.

Thank you again for the suggestions.

What island are you located on? I so miss Eva Beach! I spent three years there as a child while my dad was in the army. One day, I plan to go back and enjoy the beaches once more. That is the one thing I miss the most since moving to Pennsylvania in 1987.

Hope you are having a great day and weekend!

Aloha Anj,

If your knee is swollen it needs something cold. A cloth dipped in cold water might help it a little. Check with your Dr. first.

I was down for about 8 months and did so little in my home too. It's so hard when you have a routine. Now adays I do a little at a time to keep things in order. I tolerate the pain also and right now Ibruprofin is the only thing I'm taking when needed.

I'm on the Big Island Hawaii. We're expecting a lot of rain from the hurricane that will turn into a storm. It has been raining for a couple days already. I'm in Hilo about 5 miles away from the airport. I'm at a higher elevation where it is cool but I do get most of the rain.

Take Care!!

Have a Blessed Weekend!

Aloha again!

Yeppers, doing the cold therapy every 20 minutes almost every hour for the constant swelling. The hardest part about the whole thing is keeping my sanity while being grounded to the house. Laughs! I can't say how many different pieces of jewelry I have come up with while sitting here. At least I am keeping active somewhat. I also learned how to sew using the left foot on the pedal, which isn't easy for a right hander! Laughs! As for pain, I am currently using the Bio Freeze at night and have placed an order for another topical med called DMSO as it was suggested to me as well. Figure it won't hurt to check it out. I am doing soaks with Eucalyptus and Camphor already and it does help but doesn't take the stabbing pain away. I am learning to deal with that as it's not constant but is there enough to make me nutty when it happens. Laughs! I laugh a lot more when the pains are at their worst which does scare my family. They think I am loosing my mind here. HAHAHA! I figured it's a heck of a lot better than crying with the pain. Yep, I'm kinda weird here. Laughs!

I so miss the beaches and the people of Hawaii. Moving back the the Main Land here was honestly a huge culture shock for me as a teen with all the different lifestyles in the different areas of the world... I have learned to adapt since but can't wait to get back to a place where the people are so much nicer and easier to get along with. That is what I miss the most about the beautiful islands of Hawaii! Don't get me wrong, I have met lots of wonderful people here in Pennsylvania but there is no comparison to Hawaii! So far, in my life, I have lived all over the world as an Army brat.

Thanks again for the wonderful advise! Hoping everyone on this list has a beautiful week ahead!
