Guest guest
Thank you for your help ! However, if I give Cody his supplements we won't be able to tell if the chemo is doing its job by sending the nodes into remission or if its something else. One supplement I know you are not supposed to give within three days of chemo and after is vitamin C or any antioxidants. Not sure if IP-6 is one or not? I know CS isn't but do wonder about the Inositol. Many hugs to you and Misty, Bonnie & Cody PS: I haven't been able to order the pills from Marc because of setcom and have tried a zillion times with them, they just aren't getting the problem, it's ridiculous.Gas prices getting you down? Guest guest
Bonnie, Again, even though you are responding to Bob, here are my two cents. Please do not withhold Cody's supplements, especially while on chemo. The IP/6 and colloidal silver are of most importance right now and I am so sorry you have not received the supplements from Sutherlandia OPC. I know that you are scared and are torn with doing the right thing with regard to chemo. And I know how distraught we get over an ill loved one, yes, a furbaby also. We have the doctor saying one thing, and yet we know the value of natural healing. Please keep in mind that chemo destroys the immune system and it is that very thing that we need to build up in Cody. So please, do not withhold the supplements, especially during chemo. Unfortunately, vets have reached the point where they are also mainstream and they believe a certain way. Yet, supplements should never, ever be withheld. And now, especially during Cody's critical stage, make sure that he has every single piece of ammunition necessary to strengthen his immune system. Guest guest
Oh yike. Tony is away this weekend on much needed R & R, so if anybody wants to address the antioxidant/supplement/chemo issue, I would appreciate it. Hugs to you and Cody. Guest guest
I have NEVER stopped supplements for chemo (or surgery , for that matter), despite what the oncs say. I had very aggressive chemo in 1999. And while I do have bone mets now, I have survived far longer than expected statistically. There is a very good article in a back issue of Life Extension Journal which discusses the issue in depth and presents MUCH research and many citations and concludes the evidence is overwhelming that supplements should be continued. Guest guest
Dear Bonnie, I couldn't agree more with . I believe the Chemo is doing more harm than you can imagine. The poor guy is just being poisoned to death. I believe we all know how hard it is to see our beloved doggies ill and unfortunately they can't make their own treatment decisions. Please, reconsider the chemo and think about alternatives and supporting his immune system. Like I said before my Aussie Cattle Dog had Lymphoma and the chemo killed him. I wish I knew then what I know now. Hang in their dear. Guest guest
Bonnie, In my experience giving high dose antioxidants with chemotherapy is a GOOD thing. They help prevent many of the unwanted side effects from the chemo... nausea, vomiting, hair loss, liver and kidney damage, bone marrow suppression... the chemo is so toxic that it will still work to kill the cancer cells, just less of the normal ones. I used this therapy on my sister who had Hodgkins Lymphoma... she did chemo but I gave her megadoses of Vit. A, C, E, selenium, IP6 (she still takes these daily, she has been in remission for 11 years now). Anyway, the side effects were almost nill... with the exception of hair loss. She recovered from the chemo much sooner than normal too. There is controversy because some think the antioxidants will prevent the chemo from working (they are oxidants, creating alot of free radical damage), but it just isn't so.
