Guest guest
Mary - Did you know that a couple of teaspoons of cayenne, liquid or powder, will stop a heart attack in almost nothing flat? I think anyone that has concerns about the possibility should carry a little bottle of cayenne at all times. oleander soup , " simonl332002 " <MARYER8 wrote: > > Renee, It is good to know that about cayenne, I do take it once a day, > but that is for my heart. Guest guest
Yes, but try to get the hottest cayenne you can get. Cayenne is rated in heat units, and most grocery stores are not so hot. Health food stores can carry the really hot stuff. To make your own liquid tincture you put whatever amount of cayenne powder into a jar and cover by at least 1 inch of the cheapest American vodka you can find. Shake this every day for at least 2 weeks. Two months is better. Then strain, throw away the powder and bottle the tincture, marking the date and what it is. Then get a small dropper bottle, maybe a half ounce or an ounce bottle and put it in your pocket or purse. Great to have on hand for anything. For a heart attack the ounce bottle is better, but it can also be used for indigestion, to wake you up if tired, to flavor food, to pour onto a cut and stop the bleeding. And if the cut is deep you won't feel a thing pouring on the tincture. Some shallow cuts will burn, but deep cuts won't hurt at all. I sliced almost through a finger with my table saw and I first poured on DMSO, which slowed the bleeding, and then I soaked the finger for a minute in cayenne tincture (home made, from habanerros, the hottest pepper) which finished the bleeding. I never felt a thing from the tincture. You can also pack plain cayenne powder into a wound to stop bleeding (store bought powder is fine for this). No need to worry about bits of "grit" in the wound. It is totally antiseptic, even if it doesn't all wash out it is fine to leave it in the wound. You can also, for heart attack or stroke, just put the powder into a glass of warm water, stir it up and drink. It opens the blood vessels and stops the attack or stroke. Never be without cayenne. :-) Samala, Renee ---- > IS this the go-into-the-grocery-store cayenne pepper? = Joan

Guest guest
I also make a tincture from cayenne peppers. To alleviate the heat of the concentrated capsicum from th pepper I add the tincture to a small amount of half and half. The fat in the half and half coats the capsicum and the solution is not hot at all and you still get the benefit of taking the cayenne. - Steveoleander soup oleander soup On Behalf Of LynnWednesday, August 13, 2008 2:30 PMoleander soup Subject: Re: Re: Cayenne and heart attacksCan you make the cayenne tincture and put it in capsules so as not to remove your tonsils on the way down?Lynn If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Guest guest
The idea is to get the cayenne in the system as soon as possible and capsules would hinder that process. Guest guest
I don't think anyone sells fresh berries. Always dried. www.mountainroseherbs.com has good ones. Be sure to ask if the new berries are in as you don't want last years, and I think the new crop should be picked soon if it isn't already. There are many types of hawthorn--depending on where in the country you are. There are bushes and trees, so everyone should be able to grow their own hawthorn berries. But make sure it is the REAL medicinal hawthorn. Most landscape places will carry bushes called Indian Hawthorn. That is not the same plant, and not medicinal. I can't think of the medicinal name now, but if you Google hawthorn for heart I'm sure it will pop up. Samala, Renee ---- Here are the sources I use for bulk powders. The both carry Hawthorn. Guest guest
If I can get use to it, anyone can. I never even used black pepper on my food--regular kitchen table pepper, because I didn't like the heat. But having read and studied cayenne I decided that it would be in my best interest to learn to like it. :-) So I made my first hot pepper tincture using the hottest habs I could find. When it got done I started by taking one drop. It would BURN and I would dance around the kitchen, flapping my hands in front of my open mouth. Lol But, little by little I have learned to tolerate it. I can now take a dropperful and yep, it burns, but no more dancing or flapping. Some people take it in a glass of water. I can't do that because then you have to keep swallowing, plus the water just spreads it around your mouth. I take my dropper and put it as far back in my mouth as possible, squirt and swallow. That's the easiest for me, but you have to work out what is best for you. You can put cayenne powder into capsules and take it that way. Make sure you have some food in the stomach to help it not overload your stomach. Some people will make their stomach hurt taking capsules and some people won't. You would have to test how your stomach reacts, but part of the benefit of taking cayenne is getting it into the mouth tissues, which notifies the stomach that hot stuff is coming. Cayenne in capsules can upset some sensitive stomachs, but it is even taken to cure stomach ulcers, so not to worry. That being said--remember that there are always a very few people that are extremely sensitive to cayenne and it does hurt their stomach. So go slowly when you start either the powder or liquid. Samala, Renee--who still doesn't like hot spicy foods. :-) ---- Can you make the cayenne tincture and put it in capsules so as not to remove your tonsils on the way down? Guest guest
NOW FOODS makes a cayenne capsule with peppermint called " Kool-Mint Cayenne " - it cuts down the burn and the nausea that can occur when taking on an empty stomach. I personally take it with a shot of milk or spoonful of yogurt. I've also used cayenne powder to stop a cut from bleeding. My mother is in her 70's and her skin is thin and one day she cut it on a bush in the back yard and she couldn't stop the bleeding. I poured some cayenne powder in it and applied some of my salve on it, put a bandage on and the next day the cut was almost healed completely. Within a week, you'd never known she cut herself.
